A clean and quiet home base that shielded us from the blazing summer heat! The pictures of the apartment are accurate. In addition, the room is equipped with a fridge and freezer, a spacious closet area, a microwave, an electric cooker, and a washing mashine (it does not dry your clothes, but there is a balcony where you can hang your clothes to dry). There is also an aircon, which is not amazingly strong but will get you cool eventually.
Instructions on how to get into the apartment were communicated well. Inside, there was a booklet on the table which explained, in multiple languages, the house rules and how to use the room equipment (you may need to still use google translate to work out the finer details such as how to operate the washing machine). This makes it a great place for first-time visitors just settling into Japan.
Our host was very helpful in answering questions as best as they could. There was, however, a slight miscommunication regarding when exactly luggage could be stored at the apartment (from 12 PM to 3 PM, not from 12 AM!). This was arguably my fault as it was common-sense, but they did confirm it as 12 AM when I had asked again. Therefore, for travellers arriving before 12 PM, I would suggest using the Yamato Transport, just 10 mins North of the apartment, to store your luggage for 800 yen a piece.
Location-wise, the apartment is 10-15 minutes away from the main part of Asakusa by foot. It is not the easiest place to find, even when returning after a day out, due to the grid street plan, similar architecture of nearby buildings, and the fact that there is only a tiny sign to indicate the building itself. There is also basically no shelter from the sun in the vicinity. Moreover, our room (302) is on the third floor up a narrow set of stairs. All this may make travel difficult especially if you are carrying heavy luggage. It is, however, a great place to stay to watch the Sumida river fireworks either indoors or outside with the locals on the nearby streets - it is certainly far better than the 'walking fireworks tour' at the main Asakusa area where we were herded like sheep and could only see a tiny...
