Booked the couple kimono set with a photography session. We booked the day before. This exceeded our expectations.
First, the location is a bit difficult to find. Refer to the website or your booking for the photo where the shop is circled in. Most people, including us, walk down a few minutes to the wrong kimono shop. It’s on the second floor of the building right next to the station.
Even with our set, the lowest one, the selection for women was plentiful. The mens was a bit limited, consisting of more basic designs and colors.
The package includes a basic hair style. For 1000yen you can upgrade to get beautiful hairstyles and accessories. I did that and am so glad I did.
After picking your kimono, the ladies with help pick everything else. You are welcome to pick the obi and other decorations yourself, but they give you advice on which colors would pair best with your kimonos. I went with what they said since they’re the experts and my kimono colors looked PERFECT!
The staff is English and Chinese speaking. I the main staff and photographers are Chinese (sorry if I am wrong), so for Chinese speakers this is an excellent choice. We spoke English and they were also fluent so there was no communication issues at all. After getting ready, you grab a bag and any props and we headed out for our photo shoot.
Out photographer was so great! He was personable and tried to converse with us about where we’re from and such. He even recommended us some places nearby and warned us which were scams. Super helpful! He even posed us perfectly to show off our kimonos or my hairstyle. He took us all over the area and knew exactly the places to avoid tourist. But please go earlier rather than later because the areas we were after the photo shoot we noticed were already packed by noon.
The photo shoot was suppose to be 30 minutes and 50 photos (9 color corrected) but ours lasted almost an hour and he sent over all the photos that were good (no blinking, clear, etc) and it was 101 photos!
You can walk around the area too after the photo shoot. Just make sure to bring everything in the small bags. Don’t be like us and forget your WiFi back at the shop and have to walk back and forth. It was hot, so we returned the kimonos an hour after the shoot but you technically have until 5pm I believe.
Overall, this experience was totally worth it. Our photos are simply amazing and we plan to get them printed on a canvas for our home. Thank you...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I booked off Klook for kimono service and 30 minute photography session. This cost us about 200 Canadian!
It was extremely busy inside. Upon arriving, they ask you to remove your shoes and put it in a plastic bag. After checking your booking quickly I was directed to 2 racks of kimono where I could choose from. There is not a lot of variety for men, but my boyfriend didn't seem to mind. Afterwards, you choose a belt/sash (obi). The whole process of choosing is a bit chaotic as there are a lot of people in a small space. Afterwards, I was directed to the ladies communal changing area. A locker is provided there for your stuff, but you also get to choose a small purse/satchel at the end for your valuables/phone. I was dressed by 2 ladies who were very efficient in their work. Overall the chaos made the experience a little less enjoyable but the hair and photography made up for that.
Hair is done after changing, it is DEFINITELY worth it to pay the extra 1000 yen for a "fancy" hairstyle. Those who had prepaid for the hair package had a bracelet that they provided to the hairstylists but I was able to pay her cash on the spot. (5/5)
Our photographer far exceeded my expectations. Despite the hustle and bustle of Sensoji/Asakusa area, he lead us to some areas where we could get some lovely photos with very little to no people surrounding us. He provided us with posing guidance which was appreciated. Everybody kept asking if they were engagement photos! The images were uploaded to a google drive and sent within a few days. We got about 80 photos and we were pleased with most of the...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience renting a kimono at this shop in Tokyo! It’s very conveniently located in the heart of Asakusa, just a short walk from the famous Senso-ji Temple and close to other iconic spots like Nakamise Shopping Street and the Sumida River area. The location is perfect if you want to explore the traditional side of Tokyo while dressed in beautiful, authentic attire.
The prices were quite affordable compared to other rental shops in the city, and I found the value to be excellent considering everything that’s included. The staff was very kind, helpful, and made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. They offer a wide variety of traditional kimonos for both women and men, with many styles and colors to suit different tastes.
In addition to the kimono, they also provide traditional footwear, a matching handbag, and hairstyling, which added to the whole experience. You can enjoy wearing the outfit until 5 PM, which gives you plenty of time to walk around, take photos, and fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Asakusa.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy Japanese culture in a fun and...
