Pangoo Hotel is not a long walk from the Shinagawa train station. For the first time, I walked along the road and it proved to be a longer route. The walk was challenging as it was mainly upslope and I was carrying a few luggages. Subsequently, I found a shortcut walking past the car park in the direction of Shinagawa Prince Hotel (Annex). Along this route, I have passed by 7-Eleven, an aquarium, sports hall, cinema and several eateries.
The check in process was abit challenging for non-Japanese readers like me. Prior to the trip, I have received an email and have entered my details. During the check in (using a tablet), I have followed the instructions but did not understand how to retrieve the key from the secured mail boxes. There was a sound and several mail boxes were lighted up. After a few tries, I was locked out. thankfully, there was a staff working and she helped me to get my room key from the secured mailbox.
The room is clean and big (in Japan) and I am pleased to find a small kitchenette, sofa and a nice working table. The washroom was a good size though I find the shower area tight especially when we need to open the door. I am
The room is well equipped with a small (not mini) fridge with a proper chiller. It was more than enough to stock my drinking water and groceries for the few days. The aircon was good, not noisy and works adequately.
Personally, my sleep was not as good as the mattress is tad firm and the pillow tad soft. This is my personal experience and would not represent the experience of others. Back to sleep, I woke up early around 5+am due to early sunrise. The curtains were not "black out" curtains though it is duo-layered. Typically, I do not sleep well during travels and thus, this is something more personal.
As my unit faces the entrance to a carpark leading to the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, there are some traffic noises. I am happy to find a small balcony with seats but I have yet to enjoy that during the trip.
Overall, I think that it is a good accommodation and value for money given the space. Thank you Pangoo Hotel for having me during my...
Read moreWasn't sure what to expect but had a great stay, first place stayed in Japan and from what I heard stays can be quite small, we wanted two rooms and we got that for a great price and what I felt spacious, yes a slidding door in-between but was perfect to have our own spaces with two double beds! The rooms had everything a little kitchenette if you wanted to cook and a fantastic washing machine and dryer and the bathroom was great. Yes no concierge which my dad likes but if your good with technology was not a barrier and well worth the cost of the place. I personally loved not having a key card and just a door code so no stress worried about loosing it! Yes up a hill from Shinagawa station but there is a short cut if you head straight at the lights, goes past cafes, IMAX and surprising an aquarium and an enjoyable walk with ramps for your luggage (lots of disability access in Japan!). Also there is a new 7-11 in the Grand Prince hotel at the end of the street, only a minute walk to avoid the hill, plus can check out their incredible gardens and hotel for a...
Read moreWorst Stay in Tokyo – Unresponsive Host & Dirty Room This was my fifth trip to Tokyo, and this stay was by far the worst. The host was completely unresponsive—except when demanding extra money. - Sudden Extra Charge: Despite clearly stating in my booking (3 adults + 1 child) and in additional information I have clearly mentioned that my 5-year-old has a severe dust mite allergy, the host emailed me one hour before check-in demanding an extra ¥12,000 because "children over 2 are charged." If they had notified me earlier, I would have canceled and booked elsewhere. - Filthy Room: The carpet was covered in stains, and the shower hose holder was broken. Not what you expect for the price. - Zero Customer Service: The host ignored all my messages unless it involved payment—then they replied instantly. Avoid this place unless you enjoy terrible service, surprise fees, and dirty...
