Tanpopo House: Highly recommended for a certain demographic. They sell EXTREMELY cheap clothing. I bought lots of shirts for around 3-500 yen each. I would say I wear something from here almost daily.
DO go here if you like cheap clothing and have a bit of a trashy style like me (hoodies, knitted sweaters, plaid shirts, weird retro looking random, anything-goes kind of style). If you are more of the adventurous type about what you wear, and follow your personal whims and taste rather than trends and fashion you will surely find something that made your visit worthwhile. DO NOT go here if you are picky about brands, follow mainstream fashion trends and generally dress like the the most average fashion-conscious people. You will waste your time.
The main attraction here is the prices. I cannot overstate how cheap this store is. You'd be hard pressed to find anything above 1000 yen. They have weird T-shirts from random events, basic sweaters and jackets, random patterned and colorful women's clothes etc. The brands are unknown no-brand stuff or familiar Japanese cheap-ish brands like uniqlo.
There is a giant selection over three floors. Ground floor is for men, upper floor for women, and the basement is for even cheaper stuff IIRc. The men's floor is mostly "unisexable" in my opinion.
If you don't normally fit any Japanese sized clothes you are out of luck. Tall foreign guys will also find most clothes to be too short in arm length...
Read moreI came looking for clothes and TanPoPoHouse delivered. I spent about 2-3 hours here. They have a fitting place with a mirror, but you can only take 2 garments at a time. All the clothing is clean.
There are a lot of cute clothes, but most of them are too small for me (I’m a S/M in US. A L or LL in Japan). Clothes range from men’s, women’s, big women’s (L, LL), and children’s. Keep in mind this is like a thrift shop, the clothes are pre owned. They also have baby clothes and kimonos.
Clothing prices in the basement are 100 yen. Other clothes ranged from 300 yen to 500 yen. I found a brand name item for 1200 yen.
They mostly have acrylic scarves but also have wool ones.
The spaces are a little tight, so just keep that in mind.
I’m amused because the red overall is from where I am, and going...
Read moreThis thrift store is the very first thrift store I've ever entered in Japan. I was just walking by, a tourist who's heard that cheap second hand goods can be found all over Japan, and this shop proved that correct!
I spent around 1500 yen....
To be honest, this shop spoiled the other thrift stores for me, because I went to a book off next, and I thought maybe something's wrong with the prices in the bookoff store..... this thrift store is one I'll visit if I can visit Tokyo again. It's...
