Alright folk, Donkey and I, along with two of our friends, were staying at Prince 33 in Mount Austin and decided to try 赞麵館 猪肉粉 Like Mee Noodle House for breakfast because our friend raved about their pork noodle soup. We had read some mixed reviews about their food and service, but we were pleasantly surprised. We didn't encounter any bad service within the shop, and all of the food was nicely cooked. We didn't experience any uncooked food served to us.
This place is simply decorated, but it's very cozy. They open at 9:30 am, but we arrived at 9:20 am and had to wait about 10 minutes before they opened. It seemed like the staff were having their own breakfast to get ready for the day's customers.
I ordered the pig kidney meatballs, pork meat, and a four-flavor soup. I also asked for extra hua tiao jiu to make it more flavorful. Donkey ordered the fish soup, and all of our friends ordered their signature pork soup. Everything was absolutely delicious. The soups were all incredibly flavorful, and the customer service was excellent. We were all impressed by how generous they were with the ingredients. There was so much in each bowl that we all tried our best to finish it.
I was particularly impressed with how they cooked the pork liver and kidneys. They were cooked to a perfect medium rare, and after sitting in the soup for about 3 to 5 minutes, they were perfectly cooked. Some reviews mentioned that the liver and kidneys were not cooked properly, but Donkey and I felt that they were cooked correctly, and it's a good thing they weren't overcooked, because they would have been tough.

Got to know of this place thru JohorKaki Blog.
While the price looks expensive, the Portions given for this is really alot! It was really a Super Huge Bowl chock full of Pig Spare Parts. Soul of the Dish is the very Cloudy Pork Soup with a very Strong Porky 猪腥味 Smell and Taste.
Personally I'm not a fan of Too Porky Tasting Soup, but this is a Well Made Pork Soup. It's Savory, Sweet with a Slight Saltish, got a very 古早味 feel, but My Goodness the 猪腥味 Pork Taste in this Soup is so Super Strong that I feel some people may not like such a Strong Porky Taste.
Culinary wise, I feel to make a Soup with such a Strong 猪腥味 is a Mistake. When cooking Pork, many people will pre-boil, season or marinate to get rid of the 猪腥味 as much as possible, But this shop embraces it until it becomes like an Art form. Gotta respect them for their dedication to this.
Another item of note was the unique Pork Intestines that was added within. It is packed with multiple layers as you can see in my photo, and I was told this is KL-Styled. Certainly nothing i've ever seen in Singapore for sure. Tbh its Tasteless with a Creamy Aftertaste Texture.
There are also some Pork Lard pieces and I appreciate their presence because they help break up the overly strong Pork Taste of the Soup itself.
Kway Teow were soft and silky, but they were most likely from a package, not handmade.
Perhaps JohorKaki is an Older Person and enjoyed such Strong Pork Tastes, he could finish the Whole Soup till the Last Drop. Unfortunately, this is not for me. The Porky Taste of the Soup simply Too Strong for me, and I couldn't finish it. Don't get me wrong, I do like Pork Soup, but this 猪腥味 is too strong for me.
While i'm not a fan of this soup, I feel that anyone who likes this sort of taste will enjoy it so I will not fault it for what it does.
