Short summary for the lazy one (description why below)
COMFORT: cozy rooms and lobby but extreme noisy inside of the rooms because it's next to a giant road. LOCATION : not really central as promised, but check it on Google maps INTERNET : no go for someone who needs it for working.... Not even fast enough for streaming, for 4 days it wasn't working MANAGEMENT : worst Management I ever experienced, Insulting and makes you feel uncomfy
-COMFORT- This hostel could be a quiet cozy place, the rooms are big enough and the lobby is also okay. But for everyone who search a place to feel welcome and comfortable I just can recommend to go somewhere else. It is located next to a extreme noisy/annoying road and Skytrain which makes it for someone who can't sleep really deep hard to sleep without waking up a couple of times. -LOCATION- Furthermore it isn't that central as promised, you have to walk quiet far to be in the real proper Centre where things took place. But if you willing to spend all the time money for the Skytrain it is a good location because the entrance is next door. -INTERNET- For everyone who needs good wifi for working this hostel is a absolute no go. The wifi is not even fast enough for streaming BTW. On the whole 3rd floor where the rooms are you don't have even signal of the routers, nearly same for second and first. So if you want to work quietly on your notebook in ur room, you Will be disappointed. -MANAGEMENT- The management was the main reason why I made the afford to describe the situation of this hostel. While my Time there I got insulted twice by the management of the hostel in front of other customers, not only I made this expirience, she also noticed a Homophobic insult to an couple which left afterwards. It's really shocking to me how someone like her (Hanen) can be leading a hostel. There are absolutely no excuses for such an behavior, if you look closer to the reviews of the illuminate Hostel you can see reviews written by herself, and then she answers on her own 10 star review, seriously? Even the owner of the hostel didn't changed the situation, she is still managing the things there, within one week over 10 guests left the hostel because of her. There are enough other hostels around which are way cheaper and they treat...

Some computers also connected to the internet with a large screen TV which can be used for free. Free breakfast is good and free coffee and tea are available all the time.
The hostel is opened 24 hours , easy check-in and out. It's location is in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and it's an easy walk to get anywhere including China Town, Chinese Buddhism Temple, National Mosque, some museums, Perdana Botanical Gardens and Oldest train station (where you can get train to Batu Caves). Right opposite of the street, the Maharajalela Monorail station is located, where you can go to Bukit Bintang with 10 minutes. The Spa shop with low price is so close to the hostel.
Very low price outdoor activities and events are available with a friendly guide. Don't miss parties on Fri and Sat nights with live music, free snacks and cheap beer at bar in ground floor of hostel. Even, there was free hair cut for the guests. Again on Sat, the lunch with reasonable price is provided, with different vegetarian and non vegetarian foods. Further, with a large screen TV (which was popular most evenings) you can watch movie with other travelers and playing pool for free.
Using smart key-card to enter the hostel and your room, it just gives any traveler the feeling of more security and safety. The door of the room is soundproofing, therefore you can sleep well.
I stayed in a 6 bed mixed and had no complaints whatsoever - of course reviews like this and the ones below makes this a popular place to...
Read moreIt is a nice place with good facilities. But the manager (Hanen) does everything to make you feel uncomfortable. She always looks for a reason to attact guests.Few examples, she directly blamed me to open door strangers. She did not ask: did you open the door him? But she asked laudly: Why did you open the door? when I said her I did not, she did not appologise. She reminded to pay for room to some guests in sharing area so other guests heart everything. while I were chatting with a friend, she just cut our conversation to warn him about someting and no appologise! I think Illuminate can be a good chilling place for travellers with a good management. They definatelly need to improve it.
P.S: When I checked out, nobody asked me to pay fine. They gave my 50rm deposit and I checked out normally. If you want me to pay fine after I checked out 10 days later, you need to ask for fine 3 more people(one of them is your volunteer I saw while he/she was smoking in building) to pay as well. It will be fair, right? So if they pay 200rm fine, you can come where I stay and...
