Visit my insta @janefoodbaby for more! Disclaimer: Food itself is 3/5 but considering they're fairly new in the F&B scene & taking into consideration the thoughtfulness and effort they put in for every other aspects, I decided to give them 4/5.

Review: Found UpperDeck because their sponsored posts always pop up on my feed 🤣 Decided to take this chance to try out their menu since it looks really good. Honestly for this price - can't complain, but there's room for improvement.

*Complimentary slice (1pc) of bread with normal butter not shown here.

Food: [GREAT‼️] Really great start with this oyster omelette mousse! Fresh oyster with bursting ikura and mousse served on thin tart shell, give really great umami flavor.

[GREAT‼️] Hainanese chicken rice made atas✨. Love the concept of this - especially the chili pearls! Chicken breast looks dry but taste really tender and goes well with the creamy chicken liver pate.

Seabass was overcooked and wasn't warm when served. I like the fish consomme that was resfreshing and lightly flavored, better idea than using cream.

Duck breast has great texture but it was wayyy too salty🥴. We only managed to finish one piece. (surprisingly the staff didn't bother to ask why we didn't eat the second piece🤔) the salai (masak lemak) sauce was too little, wasn't enough to wash down the saltiness of the meat.

Filet Mignon was more enjoyable than duck breast. Also very salty but 10x lesser than the saltiness of duck breast. (pic 7) Doneness was perfect so the meat wasn't tough at all. Would be great with more seasoning though.

Brilliant idea to do mashed sweet potato with pucuk paku. Too bad the pucuk was too spicy for me.

Great ending for the dessert - spiced poached pear, brownie and vanilla ice cream. Brownie was slightly dry but glad it wasn't overly sweet. Poached pear was really good!

Not much selection for the mocktails - there were only 3 drinks. So we went with lemongrass and spirulina. Both are very refreshing

Overall we enjoyed the dinner there! Staff service was impeccable - such a team of energetic, welcoming and attentive staff 💯 They also gave complimentary rose and photo printing service for...

Overall, I feel like the restaurant’s concept is to create local-fusion dishes with “fine dining” plating in a casual setting. But their food taste and quality needs much improvement.

These are 2 key reasons why I rate this restaurant poorly:

  1. We ordered the Cold Seafood Capellini (Starter) and the Bass and Grass (Main).

The bass fish in the 1st Main was nothing special, felt like something you can cook by yourself at home.

The downside was we did not know that both Starter and Main used the same cold, lemongrass dressing which was appetizing at first, like the kind of light dressing you’d use in an asian salad. But after having so much of the same dressing, I almost choked on the acidity halfway through the meal.

  1. Not sure what “coconut” ingredient they used in their Coconut Latte but the coffee was ruined with an almost-burnt taste.

Extra notes: Our 2nd Main, Upperdeck Special Pasta, curry sauce in the pasta was uniquely spiced. Subjectively, some people might like it, but it left a weird sour aftertaste to me. Could be because we had too much lemongrass dressing it altered our tastebuds…? This restaurant rewards free ice cream to their customer for every Google review posted, which I lost my appetite for after the...

Had lunch here at the recommendation of a friend. The place is on the 1st floor so its not as crowded as most joints are but do venture in as you would not be disappointed at all.

Small but tastefully curated menu. Pastas are an impressive take on fusion cooking - we had the oxtail assam pedas spaghetti and lamb masak hitam with soft boiled egg and shell pasta, both of which were a pleasant surprise.

Also had the turmeric fried chicken. Hearty portion, juicy on the inside and nice crisp batter.

Love how they keep to local flavours but with good cooking technique. Very decently priced (what you'd expect to pay in Petaling Street) and very friendly service / keen to receive feedback on their food.

Nice ambience too which makes it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Petaling Street without being hurried.

Highly recommend and would return if we are in this...

Risotto lemak & chicken chop - mine 5/5 It’s nasi lemak style rissotto that even comes with ikan bilis sambal and chicken chop that is cooked to crispy perfection. The ikan bilis sambal didn’t reaaaally blend well with the risotto but it’s definitely an interesting combination. The taste on its own was fantastic though! Not too sweet, not too spicy 🌶️ Iced americano - came in a glass and was bitter and without the acidic taste! Really dislike the acidity of coffee imo Creamy mushroom Truffle pasta (orzo pasta which is grain-like pasta) Portion looks smaller than their other pastas but it’s enough because it’s really creamy! Can’t imagine eating more than this as portion was just right for my friend :) Atmosphere was 3/5 because the wooden staircase had the turpentine smell as I suspect they just did it that morning or the day before. It filled the whole cafe.
