Waiters were efficient. Food arrived within time along with the other dishes. 3rd visit, 1st 2 visits over the past year and a half were pleasant. Disappointed, offended by the food served, in particular the Indian dishes. Objective reviews of the food :
Fried kuey teow Good, as with any fried kuey tiaw in general. Unable to tell the difference between a delicious 6 ringgit hawker dish
Thali Pickles were too sweet, no zest, lack acidity, more of a dessert puree than pickled vegetables/fruit
Roti canai dish Excellent texture and crisp on the roti. High standards. However the dhal beans tasted stale, lacking the spice, though the consistency and appearance was good. Sambal was good. Curry/gravy was diluted with strangely what appeared to be with oil, minimal flavors
Murgh masala with plain rice Rice well cooked. The masala, in my most humble opinion, was one of the absolute worst dishes i have ever tasted. Cuisine was not given its due respect of minimal standards. Diluted, this one with water, "unseasoned water", tasted as if salt was ommited with the intent to surprise a customer. Chicken tasted not fresh, unpleasant taste to it. Even if it was, its testament to how the masala can make a fresh chicken taste horrible. No further than 3 bites was taken, unable to tolerate the masala. Dreadful, an offended customer here to have been charged the amount
Hot chocolate. One of the priciest cups of hot chocolates per milliliter of beverage in KL. And without a single doubt, the worst hot chocolates i have ever tasted in my life. Could be more acvurately described as a student dorm kitchen top cup of warm milo, in which the 500g milo bag is being shared with 30 other students for the duration of a month which it was meant to last. I may be wrong, but descriptively it tasted like 80 percent hot water, 10 percent very low fat milk, 10 percent of Milo powder from a partially sealed bag.
Sincerely offended by the charges of the food, when the waiters were very efficient. I wonder who the head chef is, if there is one overlooking the food.
Thank you for fairly allowing the space to...
Read moreI'm sad to review that JP Teres isn't what is used to be. I have not been there for many years, even before the pandemic and the taste of the food has changed quite a bit.
I ordered keropok lekor, JP Teres signature chicken rice and dry won ton noodles and for drinks iced coffee latte and fresh orange juice.
The keropok lekor was good. Crunchy skin with soft pillowy inside. Good taste. The only drawback was the dipping sauce. It was a mix of Thai chili sauce and tomato sauce. Really distinctive taste. I mean if you have tasty keropok lekor, you must have the right keropok lekor sauce, not something you mix together and pass it off. You are Grand Hyatt not roadside stall selling keropok lekor.
Next was the JP Teres signature chicken rice. This is why you come to JP Teres for. The chicken rice is famous or it used to be. Although the portion is big, it lacks taste. Sad to say, the cilantro saved the day. Roasted chicken was bland and so were the soy sauce.
Dry won ton noodle was okay but not great. I've had much tastier dry won ton noodle nearby for almost the same price so I don't see the value of this won ton noodle.
The orange juice was sour and bitter, almost noting that it might have been blended with some orange skin on and not just the pith. Could only finish half of it.
The rating I am giving is by far the lowest for an international hotel cafe / restaurant. As far as value for money goes, I didn't get my money's worth. Saved only by their great and friendly staff, the 80's Malay songs they played and the awesome looking customised cakes. Other than that, I would give this place a miss, unless they improve their...
