This is not only a hostel, this is a FAMILY! The personal friendly connection here between the owner and the guests and also among the guests is rare to find among hostels around the world. Stayed here for more than a week. The shared dorm was great, comfortable beds and everything is very clean. OA has probably one of the biggest hostel lockers in the whole world, big enough to fit in two big backpacks. Toilets are also clean. There is also a pantry for making food and drink with microwave oven, kettle and drinking water. OA has the most unique vibe among all the many hostels I have stayed before because of its hangout space and area is located along a very quiet carpark. Its location is perfect right in the city centre with many food and other commercial amenities options around nearby.
One can surely know friends from all over the world here. One tip - you need to be fast to book this hostel because it is full very easily due to its affordable price and high ratings. The owner Kelvin is a superman that really puts his heart and soul to take care of his whole hostel very well in every part and detail of the accommodation. I still can't forget the impressive way that he told me about how he maintains the high standard of hygiene on the beds and the overall cleanliness of the hostel. His staff members are hardworking, dedicated, friendly and helpful, the two female cleaners and his receptionists Rocío and Hafiz who treat guests very well and take good care of them. Kelvin is also a smart and flexible person who does his very best to facilitate, accommodate and attend to the needs of the guests. More importantly, he treats you as a friend, not a guest.
Forget all about any five-star comfort or facilities. The genuine warmth and friendliness of the vibes here from the guests, owner and staff are the main reason of why you should stay here. Again, congratulations, the OA factory hostel, after my evaluation, you are already the No. 1 most friendliest one among all the many hostels I have stayed in my life. Thank u all the people here for the unforgettable...
Read moreThe lower rating is just my personal opinion. So there seems to be two sets of rooms from OA, I stayed in the ones on the right hand side, away from what appears to be the main set of rooms. These rooms may be nicer. The place itself was not for me, and I'll explain why. It is situated in a car park, and is almost like a large garage. It is all self contained, so beds (sleeps up to 22 people I think), are on one side of the wall, and the 2 toilets and 2 showers are just opposite them. There is also a little sink that is used both for your drinking water and where you can brush your teeth etc. For me, it was just a little too cramped and I personally didn't like everything being self contained in such a small space, I found it claustrophobic. I've stayed in all sorts of shared dorms before, but this as very unique! It's more like an annex or a unit, than what I would class a hostel. However, looking up the definition of 'hostel' this gets away with it. For me, it was ok for one night, but not the 4 that I booked. Natural light isn't a deal breaker for me, but when you have to leave the parking lot/building to get any natural light, it's a little depressing. There is a washer in the room, however the morning we were there, it was being used by staff to clean the linen of those who had left that day. There isn't a dryer either, but I think you can dry your clothes on railings outside the unit. There is a decently priced laundrette outside the building that we used, which was good. The release button for the door (inside) stopped working the first morning (8am) we were there, but the owner came to fix it asap. There were upsides, the beds were comfy, (though air con didn't quite reach the head of the bed, as the are deep into the wall) it was quiet and very clean. The location is very good and central to lots of sights and transportation. If you had an issue, the owner/s were very easy to contact and assist. It just wasn't what we expected, so we left early. If it works for you though, great, it has decent reviews on different platforms so it clearly...
Read moreTERRIBLE PLACE!!
I’ve been backpacking for 4 months and this is by far the worst place I’ve stayed.
3/5 of the rooms are attached to the kitchen (which is too disgusting to even make a coffee) and common area which are extremely loud. There are quiet hours, but they are not enforced at all. People are right outside your door nearly 24/7 so there’s especially no privacy if you’re coming as a couple. It does not feel like your own private room.
During my entire stay there were people loudly washing dishes, talking on the phone and playing loud videos until 12am every night. The reception desk is just around the corner, but the staff did not care to do any thing.
The bathrooms are nasty and not well kept. I had to ask the staff to refill the toilet paper which he said he couldn’t do because he doesn’t have the house keeping key…
They’re typical SEA wet bathrooms, but dry shoes are not provided. When I asked the host about this, he said I’m not allowed to bring my shoes into the building and would have to buy the flip flops they sell if I don’t want to walk barefooted.
I brought my own flip flops into the bathroom anyway because I didn’t want to buy theirs and the host flipped out at me, going into the bathroom right after I came out and yelling about the dirt my shoes left, grabbing the bidet sprayer and telling me I have to clean it. The guy was a total control freak and we tried to avoid him as much as possible.
Additionally, everyday a staff member would try to open our door while we were there. I asked him about this and he said he wanted to see if the room was available. Despite this, I found someone else’s reservation details booked for my room and date taped to outside my door. And the price was less than what I paid. I asked the host about this and he dodged everything and kept saying “It’s okay” over and over. When I asked why they were charged less, he mentioned something about them seeing me as a white man and charging more…
What a mess of a place, STAY AWAY!!! And did I mention it’s literally in a...
