Nestled within the bustling environs of Lalaport, Bukit Bintang, Pokok KL Restaurant emerges as a serene culinary retreat amidst the urban sprawl of Kuala Lumpur. My visit to this eatery was marked by an expectation of savoring its much-touted menu, which promises a modern twist on classic Malaysian and international cuisine.
Upon entering Pokok KL, I was immediately struck by its inviting atmosphere, characterized by a minimalist yet chic interior design. The restaurant boasts an abundance of natural light, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a warm and welcoming space. The greenery accents and wood furnishings contribute to a tranquil dining environment, offering a respite from the bustling mall outside.
The menu at Pokok KL is a delightful fusion of traditional flavors and contemporary culinary techniques. The dishes are thoughtfully crafted, with an emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients. I indulged in a selection of their signature offerings, each presenting a unique flavor profile that speaks volumes of the chef's ingenuity.
A standout dish was their interpretation of Nasi Lemak, Malaysia's beloved national dish. Pokok KL's version elevates this classic with its aromatic coconut rice, perfectly fried chicken, and a side of their homemade sambal, which was a harmonious blend of spicy, sweet, and tangy notes.
Another highlight was their array of Western dishes, among which the Truffle Mushroom Pasta stood out. The pasta was cooked to al dente perfection, enveloped in a rich, creamy truffle sauce, generously topped with sautéed mushrooms and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, creating a decadent and satisfying meal.
The beverage selection is equally impressive, featuring a variety of artisanal coffees, teas, and fresh juices. I opted for their signature cold brew, which was smooth, robust, and provided a refreshing contrast to the rich meal.
The staff at Pokok KL were exemplary in their service, attentive without being intrusive, and readily provided recommendations from the menu. Their knowledge about the dishes and the ingredients used was commendable, adding a personal touch to the dining experience.

Read moreWe decided to try their Rama-Dine RM260 for 4 pax including starters, mains, desserts and drinks which was quite reasonable. The ambience was really nice as the restaurant overlooks the rooftop picnic area and the interior was beautifully decorated. Honestly, I expected more as it's a quite famous restaurant but the food was so-so and the reservation process was out of place. They also missed 3 of our orders despite ordering prior to berbuka time and we received them 20minutes after berbuka.
There were a few things that doesn't sit right especially their reservation process. I had to fill the reservation through google docs including selecting the orders from the menu, however, there were no emails or calls made by the restaurant to confirm my reservation or orders. I had to personally contact the restaurant to confirm my reservation. On the day of my reservation, the restaurant called me at 4.51pm and ask me to come at 5pm to order and make payments which took me by surprise as I already make my orders through the google docs and the traffic in Kuala Lumpur is no joke. The staff explained that the google docs was managed by their HQ, which doesn't sit right because shouldn't restaurant branch and HQ coordinate together? I think it's something POKOK should look into.
But I do recommend trying their desserts. I really enjoyed their desserts, it's really delicious compared to the mains. Overall it didn't met my expectations but would come again for desserts and the ambience. Also, space is comfortable for...
