I chose Estadia primarily for its location and room rate. Initially, I was looking for a hotel in a higher price range but came across Estadia as being a significantly cheaper alternative while having decent rooms and all the regular amenities a hotel is supposed to have. I was told by my driver that during Hari Raya holidays, rooms in Melaka are bound to be more expensive due to the influx of tourists from Kuala Lumpur. Thus, it was not surprising for me to encounter Inns and Guest Houses with price higher than Estadia.
Moving on to the Hotel Review now. First of all, I really liked the interiors. It was moderninzed peranakan and while it might come off as being “cheap”, I felt they did a great job making the interiors look classy for a 3-star hotel. There are two lobbies, you must take an elevator to go to the main lobby. The hotel is monstrous! The layout of the hotel is a rectangle and thus I had to walk quite a distance from the elevators before I can reach my room. I’d suggest getting a room closer to the elevators, noise wouldn’t be an issue since they are physically separated by doors from the corridors leading to the guest rooms.
For the price paid, the rooms are nice. Although maintenance could use some improvements. Despite being a bit on the small side, the standard room boasts a vanity desk, edge seating area, and a sizable bed. I found the room and the bedding to be clean as compared to industry standards. There’s also plenty of storage space in the cupboard as well. I did however find it a bit odd that the curtains don’t fully open. Another thing I would like to appreciate are the bathrooms. I liked how a 3-star hotel was able to have both rain showers, marble flooring, and countertop sinks. Yes its small, but I was very satisfied with the room that I was given.
Now moving forward to some notes of improvements. I noticed that the wallpapers in my room and throughout the hotel is falling apart. While the layperson might not notice these unless they took a closer look, I feel like the hotel has suffered from cut backs caused by the pandemic. But now tourism has restarted, I hope they consider revamping or refreshing their walls. I also had three broken appliances in my room which are my phone, lamp, and safety deposit box. My end desk lamp was flickering and it was a bit crooked too. I wouldn’t have noticed the phone being out of order until I had to call front desk for a late check out. These are just minor things that could be addressed promptly by management.
Staff was very friendly both at the front desk and housekeeping. I didn’t interact with staff as much but I found them to be quite attentive and helpful to other guests. They were also very accommodative in providing late check outs when I came to the front desk to ask. Check-In process only took 10 minutes despite arriving at 15:00. Check-Out was also surprisingly fast too.
Didn’t try the in-house restaurant, but I think they are still closed? I might be wrong.
Apart from the hotel, I also liked how centralized the location of the hotel is. Its not too far from Jonker Walk but also not too close to it. I’d hate to stay in a hotel where there’s too much hustle and bustle, so staying in Estadia can keep you in close distance with all the sights but also still remain within the commercial district (malls and shops). I also loved the fact that there is a 7-eleven adjacent to the hotel lobby. The hotel also has direct access into Mahkota Medical Centre which is a plus to those in Melaka for treatment.
Estadia Hotel is a ‘sister’ variant to Hatten Hotel which is more the front face of Hatten Square. They are located at the back of the complex and boasts cheaper, smaller rooms. If you’re looking for something a bit better, I’d suggest trying Hatten Hotel instead. But overall, would return to Estadia next time I’m in Melaka with the rest...
Read moreRoom 631 🙃:- I would like to take a moment to share my experience during my recent stay at your hotel, as I believe constructive feedback can greatly contribute to enhancing your services.First and foremost, while I understand that your hotel is priced lower than many other brands, I firmly believe that service quality should not be compromised. Unfortunately, my stay did not reflect the standards one would expect from a hotel, regardless of its pricing. 1. Room Condition: Upon arrival, I was disappointed to find that my room seemed to have just come out of a major service or perhaps even a period of being out of service. I encountered several defects, including a non-functional rain shower button, a fused light bulb at the bedside table, and ripped wallpaper in the bathroom. Most notably, I left the air conditioning running when I went out, only to return to a room that was unbearably hot. After calling the reception, a maintenance worker informed me that the air conditioning should be fine after 30 minutes. I ended up sleeping in discomfort until the next morning. While I understand that my room was inexpensive, it should have been in acceptable condition. 2. Reception Service: I noticed multiple check-in counters, yet only one was operational during the busy hours of 5 PM to 6 PM. I waited about 5 to 7 minutes before another staff member arrived to assist me. I would like to commend the receptionist, Afiq, for his excellent service. He was attentive and provided satisfactory answers to all my inquiries. 3. Reservation Issues: Prior to my arrival, I called the hotel to inquire about the possibility of an early check-in, as I wanted to plan my itinerary. I was shocked to be told that there was no booking under my name, without any effort made to clarify or verify my reservation. After providing my booking number, they finally located my reservation. I was left wondering why your reservation staff did not request this information upfront. 4. Check-Out Experience: During check-out, I attempted to share my feedback with the staff member at the counter (an Indian lady in a light purple kebaya), but she appeared indifferent to my comments. Her lack of engagement and eye contact was disheartening, and it felt as though she was dismissing my concerns simply because I had a lower-priced booking. First impressions matter, and her attitude did not reflect well on your brand. 5. Television Quality: I must also mention the TV in the room—it was absolutely dreadful! The picture was so blurry, it felt like I was transported back to the ’90s. Don’t believe me? Just check the picture below! 6. Final Thoughts: While I acknowledge that I booked at a lower rate, the issues I encountered highlight the need for improvement in service quality across the board. If you wish to maintain and grow your brand reputation, it’s crucial to ensure that every guest feels valued, regardless of their booking price.I hope my feedback is taken into consideration, as I genuinely believe that Estadia has the potential to elevate its service standards to match the expectations of all guests. Thank you for your attention to...
Read moreSurrounding: The hotel has no proper entrance from outside the building. From the carpark, had to walk through a mall/bus station, which can be a quite quiet at night.
Cleanliness: Within seconds upon opening the room door, I had to kill a cockroach. The room that we eventually staying in, the pillow covers had stains, and the bedsheet/blanket had a sweaty 'ketiak' smell.
Service: The housekeeping guy (hereinafter called "dude") on the night of our arrival should never be in the service industry.
When we first arrived, we asked the front desk for extra bottles of water (as there's no water dispenser for us to refill our water bottles), and also to combine our beds (this hotel only has single beds so they have to combine the beds to form a double bed).
Moments after I killed the cockroach, dude arrived to combine our beds. When I told him that there's a cockroach and we want to change room, dude gave 0 fxck and continued combining the beds. I repeated myself in Malay, and dude still gave 0 fxck and said it's the front desk problem. I left the room while he stayed inside minding his own business.
I went to front desk and asked for a change of room + reminded about the extra water.
In the second room, the beds were already combined (made me wonder why didn't they give us this room in the first place). After a long wait, no water was delivered. I called front desk to ask for 4 bottles of water. (btw their bottles are quite small)
Moments passed, dude knocked, presented one (1) bottle of water. I said I asked for 4. He said he only got order for 1, and said if I have any issue I have to contact front desk. Again dude didn't hide the fact that he gave no fxck.
I called front desk again to ask for 3 more.
Moments passed, dude knocked, presented two (2) bottles of water. I said I asked for 3 more. Again, dude gave no fxck and proudly said "saya tak tau lah" and went off.
That's how we were greeted at this hotel. Cockroach and a housekeeping dude that does not hide the fact that he does not care about you. Top that with having to sleep on dirty sheets.
Breakfast: at the nearby Hatten Hotel. Might be a bit confusing to get there. Long queue to even get into the restaurant. Food was meh.
Verdict: should have spent my money on a cheaper and...
