Reading the other reviews, my impression is this might be a quite a young budget hotel, however during my trip from 9 - 11 Aug 2019, personal i thought it was an old hotel. (probably the photos they gave on hotel booking websites are super old photos which they just opened) I stayed in a 2 single beds bedroom, there are only 2 power sockets at the corner of the room, which there's a very small table area and stool. If you are travelling alone, it is fine with 2, but I think the room should have some more wall socket plugs available near the beds, etc. Anyway, they don't provide toothpaste, toothbrushes and room slippers, other than liquid hand soap and 2-in-1 bathing shampoo. The bathroom curtain is dirty too. They do provide electric kettle for boiling water, packet coffee powder and cups, hair dryer, and a bible i think. Do note that the aircon can be noisy but i'm a deep sleeper so it is fine with me. I was staying at room 63/64, can't remember exactly because my sister and mum were staying the other room, but my room in particular, the wi-fi connection was super bad. (probably only my room :/) i have to sit near the door in order to connect to 1 bar of wifi. talk about wifi, you won't have any connection when you are at the lobby counter. the wi-fi they gave you is only connectable at the stay rooms wing. (after checking in at the counter they will bring you to another building which is nearby, they work like a budget 汽車旅館 to me because you can see many cars parked at the check in wing) and also do expect to climb up the stairs because they is no lift. the television and the channels available are very very old, some channels doesn't even seem to work. the water cooler outside our rooms (the level of 63/64) doesnt work. there is another water cooler 1 level above which is working. i guess overall, the rooms and cleanliness can be improved, our rooms have small windows to look out to the main road. however the location is great, plenty of good restaurants and dining eateries, convenience store around, starbucks nearby, and the shopping malls with cinemas are nearby too. service over the counter was fine too, staff was very polite and helpful. overall, i guess this inn was okay, but if you can afford to pay more, i would definitely choose other places. (during my travel period, plenty of hotels has been fully booked, we have no choice but to settle on this inn) but given by the price around 30sgd, from personal experiences i could stay at hostels which can provide better...
Read moreHotel location is quite good, not too far, still at walking distances from the town centre, and realy close to Mahkota Medical Centre as a good hotel for people wanting to do Medical Check Up at this hospital. A clean and modern room, quiet and OK. However, when visitors check in, the staff asking Deposit MYR 50 by making open charge on visitors credit cards, and promise to be refunded when visitor check out, that is fine. What had happened was the front staff said they have refunded me when I checked out, and she said the money now is the issue between me and the banks, however I never received my money yet since I left the hotel 18 days ago. So, the first issue, how do I know which one the dishonest party, the hotel, or the banks, since I have not received my money back. Secondly, instead charging using credit card, they can nicely ask guests to pay the deposit by cash (it is only MYR 50) as the other option, and pay back in cash when the guest check out. So, this is the "grey area" of not refunding the money that should be back to the owner, because of using complicated credit card rules, charge first, then refunded back through two banks involvements (Malaysia and NZ Bank), and incured two steps of exchange rates conversion, unacceptable practice, as you guests are not always Malaysian residents using solely MYR,...
Read moreGreat value stay in convenient location! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a pleasant stay at Fenix Inn during my visit to Malacca. The staff were incredibly friendly and polite throughout my stay. When I encountered an issue with my initial room, they quickly attended to the problem and provided me with a replacement room without any hassle - excellent customer service! The location is fantastic - surrounded by numerous eateries and massage places, with a cinema within walking distance. Perfect for exploring the local food scene and entertainment options. My room faced the main road with windows, was very clean, and had all the basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the WiFi was reliable and fast. While the provided shower amenities weren’t to my personal preference, there’s a local supermarket nearby where I could easily pick up my own shampoo and soap. The hotel is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors (walk-up), so just keep that in mind if you have mobility concerns or heavy luggage. Overall, it’s a solid basic hotel with great service and an unbeatable location. I would definitely consider staying here again on future visits to Malacca. Booked through Agoda and the experience matched expectations perfectly. Highly recommended for travelers looking for good value accommodation in the...
