Rather disappointed in Hatten Hotel. It has changed to the worst as maintenance was poorly managed. I would give a 4 star for it's location, and this is the ONLY good thing about the hotel, bring centralised in Melaka with easy access to malls, eateried, etc. Everything else is utter disappointment. My reviews as follow, bearing in mind that I was being nice at all times and was not arrogant or being demanding during the stay. I was not asking for a royal treatment, only clean and good service.
My room has dirt, marks, stains, and my aunty even spotted 2 baby roaches wandering on the table in their room!! Pictures I share painted a thousand words. I read the same review which happened few months back, when a guest also found a roach in his room. So, I wrote in to ask if the issue was resolved. Hotel's Assistant Manager Mr Mohammad Khabir gave me his assurance that "all preparations have been made to ensure your visit comfortable and enjoyable" (his words). The minibar is NOT COOL at ALL. I called in and they sent a replacement. The guy who came with the replacement seemed unhappy with his job too, as he was banging the fridge here and there! I didn't check it until that evening, thinking that the hotel would be decent enough to replace it with a better one. LO and BEHOLD, when I opened it, there was mould and dirt in the minibar!!! I confronted the frontdesk and spoke to another Assistant Manager, Lindsy or something, and while she listened, she showed no interest for concern. I came back to the hotel room and the minibar was simply cleaned! They didn't even bother to remove the stickers (which obviously shows that the item was being 'repaired'). The shower head button was spoilt too, and my poor mum kept getting wet each time she took her prayer wash. The sink chokes and water took very long time to sink in.
We had our dinner on our last night, and my RM60 steak was also an utter disappointment. It came different from the picture shown in the menu. If you are happy to have a small meat with very few veggies (that's all) with that price, this is the place! After I confronted the staff, they took the plate and returned it with a splash of flavored mash stuff on the side and a very bit of mash potato at the bottom of the meat. The chef did apologized but damage was done. It is not about how big the steak is, but the presentation of the meal itself is far fetch from that of a 5 star hotel,
Earlier before dinner was served (waiting time was rather long too), we had a chat with one of the chef too. He was a Chinese and spoke proudly of Hatten. He said hotel is the centre of government bodies having their events there. He was from a different hotel (which had shut down) and seems proud to be working at Hatten. We were also surprised when he said that the hotel owner is a Singaporean!! To know the hotel condition as such, this is really, really a shocking piece of news!
To end, Hatten has indeed lost all it's glories (whatever that was) in the past. It is definitely NOT a good option if you want to have a feel of a relaxing stay. You could do better if you pay abit more and endure abit of distance away from the central. I truly learnt my lesson.
Will I ever return to...
Read moreHatten Hotel Melaka stands out as one of the most conveniently located hotels in the city, offering easy access to shopping, sightseeing, and relaxation. Whether you're visiting for leisure or business, the hotel's prime location and thoughtful amenities make it a solid choice for travelers.
One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is its direct proximity to the largest mall in Melaka. For travelers who enjoy shopping or dining out, this is a huge plus, allowing guests to walk effortlessly to a variety of stores, restaurants, and entertainment options. Additionally, Jonker Street, the famous cultural and heritage hub of Melaka, is just a short drive away, making it easy to explore local markets, street food stalls, and historical sites without a long commute.
A major highlight of the hotel is the stunning infinity pool that overlooks Melaka’s cityscape. The view from the pool is breathtaking, offering a peaceful retreat while still being within the heart of the city. Hidden behind the pool is an excellent gym, equipped with modern workout machines and free weights, providing guests with an ideal space to stay active during their stay.
For business travelers, the business center is well-equipped and provides a quiet and professional environment for work-related needs. Whether you're looking for printing services, meeting spaces, or simply a spot to catch up on emails, this space ensures a smooth experience for those needing work-related support.
The in-house spa is another fantastic addition, adding an extra layer of relaxation to the stay. My son had a facial treatment here, and the service was impressive, offering a rejuvenating experience in a serene environment.
The Wi-Fi in the room is decent, supporting general browsing, emails, and light streaming. While not exceptionally fast, it is reliable enough for most needs. Guests arriving by car will appreciate the ample parking space inside the building, which is shared among two hotels and a shopping mall. This makes it convenient for those driving in, ensuring safe and accessible parking.
While the stay was pleasant, there are a few areas where the hotel could enhance its offerings. The couch in the room felt very dated, and refreshing the furniture would elevate the comfort and aesthetics of the rooms. Additionally, the TV program selection was limited and lacked high-quality international movies or cartoons. A more varied selection, including better entertainment options for children and global programming, would make the in-room experience more enjoyable.
The breakfast buffet was generally satisfying, with highlights including the nasi lemak and sambal. However, one key improvement would be adding crispy, well-seasoned fried chicken to accompany the nasi lemak, making the meal even more complete and appealing.
Hatten Hotel Melaka offers convenience, great facilities, and a comfortable stay with easy access to shopping, sightseeing, and relaxation. While the hotel could enhance some areas, like updating room furnishings and expanding entertainment selections, the overall experience is enjoyable, and the prime location makes it well worth considering for a...
Read morePlease communicate with Hotels.com through which I booked 2 Premier Junior Suites for 2 nights. According to Hotels.com, we should have had buffet breakfast and free parking. Someone is at fault, either Hatten Hotel itself or Hotels.com. Maybe both.
Human errors are common in life. This seemed to be the running theme during our stay here. The free parking was not valid and buffet breakfast too was not valid. Parking costs RM5 per car per 24-hour duration. Buffet breatfast costs RM40 per adult. One Manager said RM25 per senior citizen but later in the evening, another Manager said RM20 per senior citizen. Obviously, I did not point that out and went for the cheaper rate. So, I paid RM80 for me and my parents plus RM5 for parking. An additional RM85 for staying in their Premier Junior Suites which I was told could not be refunded, even though it was not my fault.
Room number mix-up. The staff either misread or miswrote one of the digits of my room number, which resulted in another human error scenario. Luckily, a Manager saw me trying to open my door repeatedly and took charge of the whole situation. It got resolved maybe less than 30 minutes while I waited in my parents' Premier Junior Suite.
With the extra RM80 settled for buffet breakfast, we were told the next morning our names and room numbers were not on the print-out for guests who paid for breakfast. Another human error perhaps. We were allowed in anyways and we had a long breakfast.
Thankfully, the free club lounge access was valid and was the saving grace of our experience at Hatten Hotel Melaka. It was not a full spread of buffet food but was enough for us to enjoy a relaxing tea time.
Our suites were super comfy and spacious. 2 separate flat screen TVs in each suite. No complaint at all about our suites. But did overhear at breakfast from a guest about how their shower and sink clogged up.
Location wise, Hatten Hotel is not bad. However, a big part of the mall (Dataran Pahlawan) attached to Hatten Hotel is shut. We were told business was bad during lockdown so many shops went out of business. So, we ordered Grab service to go out a few times and that was super convenient.
All in all, not a bad experience but communication amongst the staff, as well as with third party booking providers like Hotels.com, needs a...
