Somehow or rather all those ratings provided to this restaurant is not as expected and may not up to the standard requirements of rating a good restaurant with certain qualities or criteria requirements that the restaurant itself had graded themselves in providing very good quality food, value added, fairness, reasonable portions of food, cleaniness, prices, sincerity and of course it's services. I may say some of those whom had over rated or had simply given a few extras stars to this restaurant may have yet to try other restaurants offering the same dishes. Let's begin with: Standard - it's a very simple Halal Restaurant that sells Chicken Rice Ball and others cuisines which is operated and owned by a Non Muslim whereby all it's staffs are Muslim which is not a problem at all for all Malaysian which is a good example of one Malaysia, Value Added - There's no added value that I and friends could really give a good positive tick for this shop. A small tables that normally can only accommodate 5 to maximum 6 persons would be offered to guest of 8 persons, so just imagine how crowded it is. The menu acclaimed that each table of customers can only order once and there shall be no additional order or top up will be entertained, which means should your order is not enough and would like to order extras, you need to pay the bill and walk out of the shop and start to que again. Thats something very funny and it's the first of such restrictions ever heard at any restaurant in Malaysia. Good Quality Food - Whatever food that this restaurant serves, you may find a much better taste somewhere else which would provides much better quality and much better taste which is much better quality. Fairness and Reasonable Portions of Food - Ordered a half chicken but provided a 3/4 chicken which comes with chicken wing but missing chicken drumsticks, an eggs omelettes that is just enough for 3 persons, a medium size Sambal Sotong that is just nice for 3 persons, 50 Chicken Rice Balls thats is much much smaller in size as compared to others Chicken Rice Balls Restaurant and the only correct portions of food serves is the Vegetables. Even normal individual Chicken Rice that's selling at coffeeshop has a bigger portions of Rice and Chicken Meat! Most people named this business methods as Ripped Off! Services - Services by the staffs is super fast and polite even though being repeatedly scolded by the business owner and for that reasons, thats where the second star is added on. Cleaniness is something that you don't expect to be perfect. As many experienced dinners claimed, the best method to judge the cleaniness of a restaurant or shops, is to survey the washroom and it's ingredients preparations areas. Prices we paid is exorbitant from our imagination. With those small portions of food served, we may say this is the most expensive Chicken Rice Balls Restaurant in Melaka. Even those few most famous Chicken Rice Balls Restaurant at Jonker Street or Melaka Sentral charges much cheaper and provide bigger portions of food as compared to this restaurant. But what really surprised me is that this restaurant is crowded with mostly Muslim eventhough it's food portions is small and it's charges is expensive. Surprise really surprised. Frankly, it's not really worth the money nor a good eating place to be recommended to friends, tourist or anyone. Don't believe? Try it than you'll...
Read moreVisited Melaka over the weekend. Went there at night, for take away, queue was short. The host, 1 gentleman suggested a perfect potion for us to order for a family of 6pax. Food was generally great. So the next day, we came back but to dine in. Queue was long, but the wait was not. When we finally got a table, 3 babychairs was already place. We order 3 potions for kids meal, whole chicken for us adults, and about 40 riceball. As we can only order once, hence we tried to order much, but the Sir is experienced enough to tell us to cut on the kids and order altogether-Whole chicken, riceballs and our other order. Well to be fair, orders like riceballs, can drinks, or anything which has already been prepare, you can order it umpteen times. But those that requires cooking/preparation on the spot, you can only order it once. And thanks for the suggestion else we have lots of wastage.
Food overall was great. Nothing to complain. Riceball is nice. Kids love it! Our 2 and 3 years old girls sat down and eat silently enjoying her chicken and riceball especially, which us rare. Chicken is good. We had roasted ones. So its crispy and delicious. Loving it! Chilli, can do better, a bit watery and mild spicy. So for a person who loves spicy tangy chilli like me, you will find the chilli so-so. Ambience, quite ventilated, not airconitioned but not hot either. Queue and wait time is well controlled. Service is fast and efficient. Would definitely come back when i visit...
Read moreCraving for chicken rice ball today, and so we headed for Ee Ji Ban, as usual with my lovely parents.
Upon arriving, the shop always looks like it's under renovation or closed because of the front canvas, but it's open nevertheless.
Careful when you walk to the shop, as it's quite a heavy traffic area and roads aren't smooth.
We managed to be seated at lunch hour, lucky for us cause it was pretty packed. We were told to scan to order, or they also have iPads to place the order.
Ordered two plates of roasted chicken rice balls, and one steamed chicken rice balls - all with hot Chinese tea to wash away the oiliness.
Compared to a few years back, the size of the chicken rice balls definitely decreased, and it's really quite oily. You get 5 (five) balls per plate with the chicken. Steamed chicken tasted okay, average, so goes for the roasted chicken. The chili was so-so for me, I like mine to be a bit more spicy sweet and garlicky, this was more towards spicy hot and very watery.
Overall, the lighting is a bit dim for the interior seating and outdoor as well, but it's well ventilated.
Price wise, it is pricey - RM13.68/plate of chicken rice, doesn't matter roasted or steamed. And Chinese tea was RM1.13/cup. There's 6% SST on top of your total bill.
Overall, I think now there's better chicken rice balls in Melaka than them, but that's just my personal opinion.
Do try...
