Regrettably, our overall experience at this restaurant fell disappointingly short. Despite its impressive 4.7 Google rating and renowned status as one of the highest-rated Nyonya establishments in Malacca, our visit left much to be desired.
The initial excitement we felt upon arrival gradually dissipated as the dishes were served with noticeable delays, significantly disrupting the natural flow of our meal. While some variation in serving times is to be expected, the inconsistency we experienced in comparison to other tables was undeniably frustrating.
Adding to our dissatisfaction, the pricing was on the higher side, and the diminutive portion sizes did not align with the cost. Despite spending a total of RM200+ for the four of us, we did not feel satisfied nor full.
A notable concern emerged with the fish dish, as the weight stated on the receipt differed significantly from the actual serving. Despite seeking clarification from the owner, who insisted that frying would make the fish shrink (even though we had ordered steamed fish), the discrepancy remained unresolved. Although the owner adjusted the receipt by subtracting 100g, the actual size still fell short of what we were charged. In hindsight, I had come across similar situations from other reviews online regarding the questionable weight of the fish before visiting.
To compound our disappointment, several menu highlights, including the signature pineapple fried rice and pai tee, were unexpectedly sold out, even though we were among the first few tables to arrive. The overall quality of the food was mediocre at best, and having experienced better Nyonya cuisine in KL, it left us questioning the worth of traveling all the way from KL to Malacca for this dining experience.
In conclusion, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this restaurant for a satisfying dining...
Read moreIf there’s a way to experience the soul of Peranakan cuisine, this restaurant nails it. Our party of two adults and two kids embarked on a culinary adventure, ordering 11 dishes and we polished off every last bite. The flavors were bold, authentic, and utterly satisfying, proving why Nyonya food remains a Melaka treasure.
Standout Dishes:
Rendang Chicken: Tender, succulent, and steeped in aromatic spices, this dish was a masterclass in balance—rich but not overpowering, with a caramelized depth that had us fighting for the last morsel. Fish Otah: Soft, and packed with fragrant lemongrass and chili, this fish paste was a textural delight—moist, flavorful, and perfectly charred. Ngor Hiang: Crispy on the outside, juicy within, these fried five-spice pork rolls were addictive. The kids couldn’t get enough, and neither could we!
The rest of the spread—from the tangy ladies fingers to Chendol —held its own, with no weak links in sight. Portions were generous yet manageable, and the use of fresh ingredients shone through in every bite.
Service & Ambiance: The staff were warm and attentive, offering thoughtful recommendations without hovering. The dining space blended traditional Nyonya decor with modern comfort—think vibrant Peranakan tiles, wooden accents, and airy seating—making it ideal for families or casual gatherings.
Value for Money: Given the quality and quantity, prices felt fair. A feast of this caliber (with leftovers almost impossible) won’t break the bank, which is rare for such well-executed heritage dishes.
Final Verdict: This spot is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic, hearty Nyonya meal in Melaka. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, it delivers on taste, ambiance, and hospitality. 4.5/5 - we’ll be back to tackle the menu...
Read moreWent here for lunch. Theres a long queue but we still want to eat here to try it out.
The taste is very good. Very delicious. For those people who wanted to know how it taste, its worth it.
What I DISLIKE is the service. The one who took our orders (only me & my wife), his name is RAFIZ (from receipt) misinformed us. Ikan jenahak costs abt RM13/gram.. before placing the order, I ask the guy how much gram is okay for 2 person. He said that they do have 400gram fish suitable for 2 person. Of course, after hearing it, I agree to order the fish.
Then, after submitting the order, they have something like a receipt stating what we ordered together with the price. I am shocked to see that the fish that we ordered was 800gram 🤌🏻. I immediately called the guy, and said that "I thought you said it was 400gram??". He replied, "Eh no la. I said 800gram". Me & my wife swear that he said 400gram, otherwise we wouldnt agree to order it, then we decided to cancel it, since it havent been that long time anyway. A supervisor came and confirm if we wanna cancel, then proceed to ask the kitchen. Coming back, she said that cannot cancel anymore due to the fish has just start cooking. I felt disappointed, its been only a few mins. Turns out that, the fish took a very long time just to be served at our table. So what is "the fish has just start cooking???"
I beg them to cancel, but they dont allow. So, I just had to pay. Very disappointed with the staff. So much disappointment for this store with high reputation. Had to bring back the fish leftover. Couldnt finish it with...
