Just spent a week at this hostel. I lived there one of the best weeks of vacation of my life full of sharing and convivial moments and this at a low price not found in all of Marrakech for the quality of the service. I even canceled my reservation in another establishment for the last days so much I liked this place. It's not very well known yet because this hostel opened a few weeks ago. Hamou the manager of the riad, is a very professional, kind and extremely welcoming person. he will pay attention to you and your needs. he showed great adaptability when I asked for example to have a very early breakfast in a bag. The owner is also attentive and very helpful. The establishment is extremely clean and well maintained. The breakfasts are excellent and very generous between qualified Moroccan products but also pastries or fruit. You have the possibility of enjoying a superb terrace on the roof for your meals or convivial moments. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable with the possibility of having your own locker and key to put your belongings there. The location is a ten minute walk from the central Jema el Fna square and the trip is really easy. it is a quiet and family area and very calm protected from the surrounding noise. Finally, this place is a real artistic gem with magnificent frescoes and drawings that you will find...
Read moreThis place WAS my favorite in Morocco! And I came back and now they kicked me out of the hostel for wanting to make a change in the dates since the hostel has changed a lot and is neglected, the bathroom smells very bad and that's why I changed the dates of my stay, they didn't want to make the change despite To say that it was not for pleasure, I decided to put the complaint in booking and an hour later the owner called me yelling at me and threatening me for filing the complaint, he told me to grab my things and leave, he threatened that he would call the police if I didn't. I was going despite already having paid for my nights. In the end he ran me out and didn't give me my money back. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! The bathroom smells bad, there are water leaks, it is neglected, the beds are of poor quality, the lockers do not work.
Update 2025, after defaming me for saying I stole money. I can tell the true story with all the conversations and audio recordings of the calls this person made to me, as well as all the screenshots with the booking team where he wanted to blackmail me by returning part of my money in exchange for deleting these comments. I also have evidence where his former employees also accuse him of being a bad person. If you want me to tell the whole story, fine, but it will be on social media to...
Read moreI felt extremely uncomfortable in this place due to the guy that works here. Upon arrival he told me he wanted to see if I had a connection with his "berber culture" and started to massage my head and neck which was very disturbing to me. He then kept saying we will smoke weed and hang out together later despite me saying I don't smoke and I'm not interested. He also told me he could show me a tea that “makes people horny”. When I asked how I will be able to get back into the hostel later he said "if the key is on the table when you leave you can take it, if the key is not there someone will let you in" which I found dodgy and unprofessional.
After just 20 minutes in this place my gut instinct very clearly told me "YOU ARE NOT SAFE HERE, LEAVE!" So I booked another hostel and left as soon as I could. And I am SO glad I did, especially after reading other reviews (after the fact) about women that felt uncomfortable and presence of bed bugs.
The location (despite being in what seems to be the center of the Medina) is down a deserted alleyway that I would not have felt comfortable walking down as a solo woman traveler at night.
Exercise caution if you are a woman planning...
