When we entered the room, I noticed some reading material left conspicuously out on the bedside table, a Swedish language copy of Sabine Dardenne's "I Choose to Live" describing her harrowing 80 day captivity in the hands of Marc Dutroux. An ironic choice, considering how our single night would unfold at this avoid at all costs Riad conveniently located in the center of the Old Madina of Marrekesh.
First of all the place is nearly impossible to find even with gps. It is located in the labyrinthine Medina and looks for all intents and purposes like the door of a house, no signage, nothing to indicate where you are. Host was thoroughly unfriendly and almost immediately demanded we owed him more than the listed price including, as other people have noticed, the infamous "cleaning services" taxes ?? No credit card payment option (which I was ultimately thankful for) and he led us to our room.
While the small courtyard and stairwells/balconies of the riad are quiet airy and well ventilated, we were greeted with the peculiar odor of effluvia and raw sewage as we entered the tiny room. Now, I typically prefer budget hotels and Riads and Morocco and Marakesh are full of excellent options, but this was another level entirely. The smell of the room can only be described as trench warfare in a cesspit and should perhaps be sanctioned by the U.N. and it was far worse in the bathroom. Also, no soap, no shampoo, nada. Also I hope youre comfortable with showering/ going to the toilet in full view of your room companion (fortunately I was) but there is only a sheer curtain separating the bathroom from the beds! Wifi is also a no go, had to spot myself.
I quickly informed the owner we would not be staying two nights as we had reserved. Woke up with a headache from the smell and ran out of there to get back to Gueliz. Such a shame as the place does have a great location and could theoretically be a great place to stay. Until they get their amenities and that crazy sewage smell out of control though, I cannot recommend staying there. AVOID...

We had a good experience during our first stay. The room was clean, though the shower had very little water pressure (still manageable). One staff member, a very friendly woman who also prepared breakfast, made our stay enjoyable. The rooms were cleaned daily, which we appreciated.
However, when we returned for a second stay, things took a turn for the worse. After paying 1100 MAD for four nights initially, we were surprised to be charged 800 MAD for just two nights this time. We tried to discuss the price with the manager, but despite the language barrier, he was unwilling to accommodate any adjustments. He insisted on additional fees, including charging us for breakfast on our last dayâeven though we had informed him in advance that weâd be leaving early and wouldnât be there to eat.
The issues didnât stop there: our room key didnât work, we werenât given towels or toilet paper, and although we paid a âdaily cleaning fee,â our room was never cleaned during our second stay. Additionally, during our second stay, we only had cold water and water leaking in the bathroom.
Overall, while our first visit was pleasant, our return experience was disappointing. We expected consistency in service but unfortunately didnât receive it.

Read moreOur experience at Hotel Riad Todos was extremely disappointing and frustrating. The rooms and toilets were not clean at all, despite being charged a hefty cleaning fee. The manager, Khalid, was incredibly rude and unprofessional, making the entire stay even worse.
To make matters worse, they charged us more money than the original booking price on Booking.com, which felt like a complete scam. They used the excuse of cleaning fees, but no effort was made to ensure cleanliness.
This was one of the worst hotels we have stayed atâ1 out of 10 experience. Very sad and disappointing. It seems to be the only hotel in the area with such bad reviews, as other riad hotels are much better. Unfortunately, we were left with no other options as we arrived late and had to stay here.
We strongly recommend planning your accommodation in advance and avoiding this hotel at all costs. Itâs a total scam, and they charge you an unfair amount for nothing. Donât fall...
