My wife and I feel privileged to have spent 5 days staying at this wonderful Riad at the end of February. We had an absolutely amazing time. We had arranged for an airport transfer via the Riad as we wanted to avoid haggling with taxi drivers, particularly as we had heard many horror stories of people being overcharged. We were met at a small square by Abdel who led us the short walk to our stunning Riad. Upon arrival we were introduced to the manager Valeria who spent about an hour showing us a map of Marrakech and highlighting what to see, places to go and places NOT to go. She also helped to remove any apprehension we may have had about walking around the markets and souks by giving us a few tips on what to say and how to say it. All of this very useful information was shared with us whilst we enjoyed some delicious mint tea and homemade biscuits. The Riad is owned by Giorgina a Swiss architect and her husband Massimo, an Italian businessman. They have done an amazing job of renovating, decorating and furnishing the Riad and turning it into an oasis of peace and tranquility. We had booked the suite called ‘Nacre’ for our stay and Giorgina herself gave us a tour of the building and took us to our suite which was absolutely stunning and included original intricately carved plasterwork on the ceiling, antique furniture and a wonderfully comfortable bed. We spoke with Giorgina and Massimo a few times during our stay and they gave us some amazing insights and tips on places to visit and restaurants to eat at. They have done a wonderful job in pulling together a ‘family’ of 15 staff members who obviously are very happy working at the Riad which shows in their smiles and the service they provide. We ate dinner at the Riad on our first and last evenings in Marrakech- the food is freshly prepared in their own kitchens and was the best we had during our stay. On our last night, as a special treat- we were served an amazing dinner in the library with a log fire burning. It felt like we were in a Michelin starred restaurant and we were served by Sadeq. (Other fantastic staff members names to mention are Abdel, Mohammed and not forgetting Heba- one of the chefs in the kitchen). Everything about the Riad was perfect and we will definitely be returning to stay. In fact, we have shared photos and details about the Riad with friends and family and recommended that they visit too. A maximum rating of 5 stars is NOT enough for Riad Le Clos Des Artes. The location, accommodation, decor, food and staff customer service is top class and our stay was truly memorable. We...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for four nights to celebrate her 40th birthday - our first trip away without the kids since we became parents. What can I say - the Clos Des Arts is just perfect. From the moment we walked in we were enchanted by the luxurious smell the charming Moroccan decor, and overall relaxed vibe of the place. ||When we arrived we were greeted by Valeria in the square, and she escorted us to the riad where over mint tea, she gave us such a warm welcome and provided us with such a comprehensive breakdown of what we needed to know, places to go to, places to avoid, which online resources to use (maps.me really is excellent), we felt truly looked after from the get-go. Everyone at the riad are just so genuine, friendly and hospitable - I got to know them all by their first names, it felt like we were being looked after by a family. ||The riad itself is situated very close to Jema El-Fenaa (about a 5 - 7 min walk) but in spite of that, it's so quiet at the Clos Des Arts, you'd never guess you were right in the middle of it all. ||What makes this place so special and stand out from the rest for me, is the personal touch. My wife is vegan, and I could not find anything in the form of a cake that didn't have eggs or butter to get her for her birthday. When I asked Valeria for suggestions, she arranged for the house chef to make a special plant-based cake for my wife, at no extra cost! Also, as a Muslim I wanted to go to the Koutobia mosque to do Friday prayer but was concerned that my lack of Arabic language skills would mean that I was refused entry. Issam kindly gave me his very own prayer mat to take with me, to make sure that I fit right in and would gain access without any trouble at all. ||Our time there flew by so quickly, we wished we'd booked a few more days. If we ever go back to Marrakech without the kids, we're definitely going to stay here again - it's an absolute gem. A huge thank you to Valeria, Abdel, Zakaria, Issam, and Yassine (and everyone else) for making our stay...
Read moreDo not hesitate to stay here. It's exceptional! Our Canadian family of 5 adults stayed at this elegantly appointed Riad and had the most incredible experience. It was our first time in Marrekech and were overwhelmed with which Riad to reserve but so pleased we ultimately chose this one. It is a peaceful and calming oasis. It is extremely clean, upscale beds and linen, modern ammenities yet maintains integrity of Morrocan traditions, easy access location and walkable to everywhere in and out of Medina. The decor is a beautful combination of elegance and tradition with attention to every detail. The scent thoughout is exquisite. The eat in breakfast and dining is substantial and superb! Do not worry about pool size. It is more than enough to cool off in. The roof top is so relaxing after long day. But what makes this Riad mot memorable and closest to our heart, are the hosts and staff. We were greeted immediately upon our arrival by the very knowledgable Massimo and Georgina, who provided us extensive orientation (safety do's and dont's/how to get around etc) and hospitality which was key for our trip. The staff are the heart and soul of this Riad. They are very warm and respectful people who became our Riad family while there. Nothing was too small or too big of a request to fulfill. Always smiling and knew what we needed before our request. We are so grateful to each of you and miss all of you! We highly recommend this Riad and will certainly return. I should provide context and state wen are in late 50's, travel quite a bit and are particular travellers wanting both, a cultural experience along with upscale accomodations in our older age. Thank you so much Riad le Clos des Arts!!...
