We spent 2 nights in Riad Abrare at the end of our 2 week Moroccan trip.
The pre-arrival communication was very good, and the Riad quite easy to find. It’s located in rather down-at-heel part of town, which I suspect could feel a little intimidating if you haven’t been to Marrakech before.
The photos of Riad Abrare are carefully curated and belie the fact that the rooms are rather cramped with almost nowhere to unpack and store any of your belongings. Or at least that was the case with our room, which we were told on arrival was ‘the best’ room. Fine for a night or two but it would be frustrating if you were staying longer.
However it is an economical option, the staff are attentive and friendly and it’s only 15 minutes or so walk to some of the main attractions in the Medina.
Our room was on the ground floor right next to the communal pool and lounge area, which meant we were very aware of anyone using that area. We had to keep the internal window closed in order not to be disturbed too much at night or in the early morning, which made the room rather claustrophobic (no external windows). The AC unit was effective and kept us cool.
The upper floor where breakfast is served is lovely - a great place to rest away from the hustle and bustle of the streets.
Breakfast itself was nice fresh bread and pancakes, jams and honey, fresh orange juice and yoghurt. Sadly the coffee was very weak and not anything like the delicious coffee we experienced elsewhere.
In conclusion, this is a friendly, clean and economical place to stay...
