I don't want to support companies and places that do not care for their staff. As a public health specialist with experience in occupational health and infectious diseases, I found no improvement at the Riad (note I have communicated this during spring too). ZERO ergonomics: The reception staff has poor seats with no lumbar support. This is how you give your team chronic low back pain. The poor cleaners need small safe ladders to clean up the bunk beds. Instead, I saw many climbs with pain in their legs and arms. I once offered a lady a chair, and she said the boss does not allow them to stand on the chairs even if it makes their work easier. I decided never to let the ladies make my bed, and I did it myself. Classism! While the manager has huge meals and indulges herself in the richness of the food, the staff has to bring their lunchbox from home. I am against this type of hierarchy; the entire team is allowed to eat, or everybody gets their lunchbox from home. There is no natural ventilation possible in the room. If you open the window to ventilate, you hear noise from the people at the bar and the music. Great way to acquire any pulmonary infection when a person or two sneezes and coughs in the space. The AC does not get cleaned, which is a great way to acquire a pulmonary infection related to AC.
Massive deposit for towels: 30 euros! The deposit does not correspond to the value of the towels.
I give this space two stars because it's beautiful, and I LOVE THE STAFF. But I will return to this hostel once the working conditions of the people are resolved. I support local, I support justice, and I support those who keep their staff.
Of course, I will receive an adverse reaction from Rodamon on this review, and they will claim differently. Instead of discussing this with a specialist, try and improve the working conditions and prevent...
Read moreI would like to provide comprehensive feedback regarding my recent experience at the hostel. Firstly, I must address an incident involving the staff's attitude. I was unjustly accused of theft when I took a splash of milk for my personal tea without having paid for breakfast. Additionally, when I paid for breakfast and attempted to fill my water bottle, I was told to save water for other guests and advised to use tap water, which was implied to be the same as bottled water. I felt compelled to return a new carton of milk. I never imagined that taking a splash of milk in addition to hot water at a hotel would be considered stealing. The implications and inconsistencies were disappointing and reflected poorly on the staff's and establishments attitude towards guests.
Furthermore, I need to address an incident at the front desk which was escalated to the manager. The manager accused me of harassing female guests and using vulgar language with the front desk lady, allegations that were completely false and unwarranted. As a foreign guest, I felt unfairly cornered and deeply uncomfortable by the manager’s approach. Such accusations not only tarnish the hostel's reputation but also create a hostile environment for guests. I hope these issues can be addressed promptly and that future interactions with guests are handled with professionalism, sensitivity, and accuracy.
In the end, the manager expressed regret about the situation and kindly offered a free porter service for my taxi ride, which was a thoughtful gesture.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and hope other guests do have to go through what I just...
Read moreIncredibly friendly and helpful staff. Closed off from the hustle and bustle of Old Marrakech yet somehow still right smack in the middle of it with shops, taxi stands and cafe/restaurants all within just a few minutes walk. The shuttle picked us up right from the airport and took us all the way there with just a brief 25 yard walk needed due to the narrowness of the street.
The Riad itself is beautifully (and I do mean beautifully) refurbished from original Moroccan architecture with an outdoor villa area that includes a small pool area, a bar and eatery all within the Riad itself. The rooftop bar/patio area is also wonderfully done and would be perfect for a large group of people.
Amazing breakfast offered to guests with a coffee machine and “help yourself station” an awesome touch, especially for people like me that just must have a cup of joe before starting my day.
Lastly the prices are very reasonable concerning all of the above, plus the Riad has a guard/greeter outside and modern amenities like keycard entry for the rooms and new bathroom fixtures.
Perhaps best of all was how clean this place was. Well, I take that back, the best thing about this place were the staff. Some of the most friendly, helpful and genuinely cordial people I’ve ever met in my travels.
The owner should be very proud of this place. I could literally not recommend it more as I found myself wanting to stay within its cozy walls rather than explore the wonders of Marrakech. That should tell you all you...
