A humble hotel in the heart of Thamel, with rooms and services to suit many kinds of travellers. My room was very clean, comfortable, and equipped with a hot shower and good wifi. Although the hotel itself fulfilled my accommodation needs, it was the staff at Hotel Holy Lodge that made my trip something special.||||Wanting to avoid touristy-tours, I asked Santosh how I should see the sights of Kathmandu. He put me in contact with a friend of his who took me around on the back of his bike to check off my sightseeing list. We ate and drank with the locals, checked out many a temple, and shared lots of laughs as well. ||||I then got to know the other staff, who welcomed me and treated me like a brother. Although I travelled alone, I was never short of good company. Anil was fantastic, giving me a lot of great insight into life in Nepal for the locals, which he shared willingly over a couple of drinks. Dillip also provided me with great company and many laughs.||||It is often difficult trying to figure out the price of travel in new countries, but the guys here taught me the tricks of the trade and ensured I was getting a fair deal when out and about, and also sorted me out with domestic travel in Nepal for considerably less than other operators.||||Whatever you’re looking for in Kathmandu, or even the whole of Nepal, make sure to stop by this place. If not for the top-notch budget-friendly accomodation, then at least swing by to meet these honest lads and have them help you to make your trip...
Read moreMy travel agent had booked this hotel as a part of my trekking trip to EBC. So I had to stay 2 nights before and 1 night after my trekking. On a positive side, this hotel is at a great central location in Thamel with minutes access to everything [shops, restaurants, pubs etc.] you could look for. The restaurant is clean and serves good food. However, as a traveler, you are more interested in the room and toilet than the restaurant because that's what you are paying for. And this is where this hotel scores so poor. The room I was staying with my friend was not so clean. The toilet is in a pathetic condition. It certainly needs some big renovation. The towels were looking dirty and seemed to be in use for last 5-10 years. You definitely won't feel like using them. On my return from trek, the hot water was not coming from the shower. The staff however was quite cooperative. He tried his best to solve the problem. Finally I was able to take the shower in the evening. So overall this place lacks hygiene. So the big question is Would I stay here again ?? Well, my answer is "No" and I won't recommend this...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed at Hotel Holy Lodge for 3 nights. The first night we struggled sleeping because we were faced towards a night club, we let management know and they had no issue upgrading us to a better, quieter room. This kind of service is unheard of in Nepal. We were also greeted with a welcome coffee upon arrival. The rooftop garden is lovely and a pleasant surprise amongst the city. The location is superb, great walking distance to hot spots like the central markets and garden of dreams and monkey temple. Also lots of yummy cafes and places to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone. The friendly staff, clean rooms, and very accommodating presence gave us a great stay! The even sent us off with a safe journey gesture and good luck scarf. Thank...
