Hotel Mandap Pvt. Ltd. — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Went for breakfast during a recent stay in Kathmandu. Restaurant is comfortable enough and earned the one star. Coffee in the set meals was instant, a rarity in Thamel nowadays and was a surprising disappointment. Got a smallish meal that was just ok. Went to pay the bill and it seemed to be more expensive than on the menu. As I left I checked the menu at the door and I had paid approx 100npr more than quoted. I asked the manager about this and he wordlessly flipped the menu over to the back cover and angrily stabbed his finger at the bit where it said there was a 13% VAT charge and stormed off. Wow! Hands down and by far the worst service I have experienced in Nepal. I told a Thamel local this story and he replied "Mandap? Why did you go there??" Avoid this place. We have come back here now three times ! When you are onto a good thing, I tend to stick with it. The Indian food was out of this world so we returned the next day for lunch again. This also may have something to do with the outstanding service we received. Kashav went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, happy and our every need was meet. It would have to be the best hospitality service I have ever recieved - Kashav was so genuine and friendly. I walked in because of the Garden Restaurant.They also have a fire place inside,a sun deck area and Sit Out Terrace.The manager Bishow gave me a pretty good off season deal and all the staff are very nice.The room size was ok for me as was alone but I had to keep the windows open due to the stink,which again meant that the blaring music from adjoining places would not let you sleep.Do check the shower and water pressure as I had to ask for a bucket & mug.Did not eat here as i found the prices a bit higher than the competition but had cocktails as i got a special off...
