Karma Tara Residency — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

I landed at Karma Tara Residency after staying several weeks in various hotels on the same street, since Keshar Mehal was the best location for me. As I was staying long term (several weeks at a time throughout the year) it worked really well for me to find the Karma Tara Residency. It is on the best street in all of Thamel, quiet and clean yet close to everything that Thamel has to offer. The residency itself is really clean and well managed, because the owner Sonam is always on hand to oversee that everything is in top shape and that all the people staying there are provided with whatever they need. This personalized care is what really sets the place apart. Sonam is a great resource and also a very helpful and hospitable person who strives to make his guests feel comfortable and at home. I highly recommend Karma Tara for both long and short term stay. Nice apartment with comfortable bed, good kitchen, hot water, wifi and sat TV. It would be hard to find somewhere better in that...

We battled to find a place to stay in Kathmandu, not because there is a shortage of accommodation but because as a couple living a nomad / work / lifestyle we’re looking for more than just a hotel room. We found it in the Karma Tara Residency, located in Kesar Mahal, part of Thamel. We stayed in the AmaDablam Suite which turned out to be a little small for us and yet, we coped just fine. The suite was clean, well appointed and serviced daily. Sonam, the owner and manager was super helpful and organised some printing for us and other odds and ends. We had a challenge or two with Wi-Fi and found that mobile access in our room was a little patchy. We loved sitting on the topmost patio and spent a couple of lovely mornings there. Karma Tara is within very easy walking distance of a ton, and I mean a ton, of spots to eat. You can stay there for two weeks and never need to use the kitchen in the unit. Very nice space, calm, peaceful and loving. Would stay there again...

Kara Tara Residency is the best place to stay after being in Kathmandu a number of times. The warmth n friendliness u get from the staffs n owner Sonam, is incredible. The room is very clean,spacious,peaceful n well equipped. I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast prepared by Lalu every morning on the rooftop balcony n enjoyed many chats w d owner,Sonam(who is very helpful n informative).The other residents that stay there are a friendly bunch n helpful too,which makes this place feel homely than making me feel like just another tourist in just another hotel. Sonam is gracious n the staffs are wonderful. Location is very ideal too, which is situated by a short walking distance from Karma Tara Residency to Thamel. Already thinking of another trip to Kathmandu n planning to book myself a spot in Karma Tara Residency cause of its popularity!
