I am a little late writing this review, but I only have great things to say. |It was four of us, we had two rooms. Since the time I booked the reservation (I called the hotel, I wanted to make sure they had available what I was looking for), Anali was very helpful, professional, and accommodating. Francisca, confirmed my booking processing the payment and sent me the receipt and offered additional help (this doesn’t always happen).|When we arrived, Maria was able to rush our rooms and have them ready early (since they were already empty). |We stayed a total of three nights, one night and then two nights after our five day trek. We left our luggage at the hotel, when we came back, our luggage was already in our rooms. |My husband was not feeling well after the trek and we needed ice, Anali was able to get ice for us and arranged for the ice to be delivered to our room. |I have worked at luxury hotels for over ten years, and have stayed at multiple of their properties; based on my previous experience I can say the service I experienced at El Balcon was one of the best. Every one was very kind, went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and taking care of. Loved the amenities in the room, such as the bottles with water, basket with fruit, baby alpaca blanket, robes. Breakfast was simple, but fresh and good. Marleni, at the restaurant was very welcoming. We had a wonderful stay.|I will definitely stay at El Balcon when I go back to Cusco, I know I will be taken care of by the best. Thank you so much to the team for a memorable...

El Balcon was a wonderful place for my wife and I. We spent almost 3 weeks there during early July of 2018 and used it as our "home base" in between as well as before and after our treks. Please read on for specifics on staff, space, and food.
STAFF: The staff was personable, kind, and always helpful with directions and coordinating with taxis. They also helped us navigate how to retrieve our lost luggage. This was extremely helpful because they were familiar with the Cusco airport.
SPACE: The rooms are simple, clean, and cozy. Water pressure and heat in the shower is strong, which was a real gift after a long trek. El Balcon also provides complimentary clean drinking water in your room as well as in the lobby although a donation is suggested. The garden/terrace is quaint and comfortable and the wood fire places in the dining area and the lobby were a perfect touch after a long chilly day. The dining area was open throughout the day which was a great spot to read and write.
FOOD: El Balcon provides a complimentary (FREE) continental breakfast of fruit (watermelon, papaya, mango, honeydew), granola, juice, coffee and your choice of french toast, eggs, or pancakes. They also provide hot tea throughout the day in the dining area. Breakfast is just the start of the menu at the restaurant. They also make and serve delicious dinners. We ate there often because it was convenient, fresh, and affordable. Also! if you leave El Balcon before breakfast is served (6:30AM), they will make you a bagged breakfast...
Read moreThis is a difficult review to write as the stay in El Balcon began so well, my boyfriend and I checked in on the 26th and were due to check out on the 29th August, we stayed in room 14 which is on the 1st floor all the way at the end with a view of the mountains. We were left to ourselves which was nice as we were acclimatising to the altitude. On the 2nd night, my boyfriend was in the shower, and I decided to open the window hatch to see the night view and was startled to see one of the cleaners outside, I laughed as we both jumped and he explained in Spanish that he was checking the gas pipe which I didn’t think much of as it seemed very normal. The following morning as we were getting ready to go to breakfast at the hotel, I was in the room getting changed and I see an eye appear in the key hole gap of the door, I screamed and heard running across the corridor, I yelled for my boyfriend and we ran out but they had disappeared. I got quite emotional explaining what happened to the concierge who said they would report to the owner. There were no cameras either but after describing the man who was “fixing the gas pipes” the night before, she said that doesn’t make any sense as all of that equipment is in another area of the hotel. I was with a male and went through this so I can’t imagine the experience of a solo female traveller. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel until proper doors and locks are installed, cctv is installed in all areas and the person...
