Make sure you bring soles to pay for your room, there is a 6% up charge for using a credit card. The rooms are a bit rustic - no noise from neighboring rooms, but the doors/windows are not sealed so cigarette smoke wafts up from the atrium and noise from the busy city street. Recommend bringing earplugs! They do have activities each evening of the week including salsa dancing and Pisco sours. Breakfast was included - coffee, scrambled eggs, bread/butter/jelly, small bowl of cereal/yogurt. Coffee is not good so recommend going around the corner to a cafe instead (or bring your own instant coffee). Hot water for tea available all day with coco leaves if you have difficulty with altitude - very helpful. There is also a tour company on site to help with organizing day trips to Macchu Picchu, Rainbow mountain etc. There are tour companies everywhere but all are similarly priced so it’s just easier to work with Peru Travel on site. They are very communicative and easy to work with. Great...
Read moreThe hostel is in a great location and very easily accessible, the staff was friendly and were mostly quick in handeling any problems we had.
However, after an 8 day stay there are a few things that bothered us.
Firstly, we were asked if we wanted to get picked up from the airport, to which we agreed, but we were ghosted and no one came to pick us up.
Make sure you bring cash as they will charge a ridiculous 8% extra if you pay by card.
Our room smelt of raw sewage. This was not because of our bowel movement since it was already rancid smelling when we arrived.
Most of the staff is friendly but some are very unprofessional. They treat the hostel as if it is their own little hang out room and watch movies and listen to music on max volume until 11pm. One can't seem to catch a break in the morning either as you are treated to a cacophony of tiktok and insta reels on full blast.
I hope the hostel sees this as constructive criticism to improve on as it has great potential...
Read moreThe rooms are off a main courtyard (which is enclosed) and smoking is permitted. The doors to the rooms don't seal tight so our room constantly smelt of smoke. We were also kept up by people talking in the courtyard until well after 11pm and breakfast starts at 6.30am so were woken then each morning with people chatting at normal volume over a early breakfast. Our towels also had other people's hair on them so when we dried ourselves we were covered in someone else's hair, which was really gross. Showers were hot and room seemed clean enough. Bed was comfortable. We weren't permitted to check in early but were allowed to check our bags into secure storage. Check out is 11am but staff were knocking on our door at 10:40am telling us it was time to check out. Breakfast was about the best part of our stay but we wouldn't stay here again. Also charge (by the hour?!) to use...
