It's a shame a few things were extremely disappointing. The 6day tour has potential to be really good if it sticks to what's promised but ultimately does not deliver.
The reason for the lower rating is that it was advertised that we would go on the catamaran on the Salvador lagoon twice, both in the morning and afternoon. We only went in the afternoon which was really disappointing as this is where a lot/most of the wildlife is( hence is the reserved area) such a shame. Travelling 10 hours and only visiting this special lagoon once is such a waste. There was no weather problems stopping it go ahead - extremely upset as it is a costly tour would have had a better chance to see wildlife.
Communication is poor. I had to reach out the day before to tell them my hotel. They said they could not do hotel pick up due to being on a narrow street, but I have had large cars/taxi drop me very close to the hotel and also seen trucks! They sent a picture of where to go, I kept asking for the address but they didnt send it. I was crying and extremely stressed. Not a nice start. They didn't send me the link until the morning of the tour to pay the remaining fee. They couldn't understand that I didn't feel sure about giving a large amount of money without an address to go to.
If you have not done tubing before I suggest you skip it. The tube was too big and my arms not long enough to steer. I went straight into a stone wall with speed from the current - extremely dangerous. Luckily I was not seriously hurt but my nerves were shot to hell, a horrible experience.
I personally think it would be better to skip the gimmick/day of tubing and spend an extra day at Salvador Lagoon which is best for viewing wildlife
As a solo traveller expect to share for parts of your trip. I wanted my own privacy, sharing a lodge that has an open toilet with a complete stranger is not ideal. As it is an expensive tour I thought Id have my own room. I was made to share..
Having looked at a recent review I am not the only one with this issue with pick up and communication/ organisation. Hotel pickup/drop off should not be advertised. Both were very stressful.
Overall most of the tour was good. Food was nice. Guide was very hardworking, experienced and knowledgeable. Saw lots of birds and monkeys. Didn't see Jaguar or otters but saw pretty much everything else. But due to the issues mentioned I left sorely...

My wife and I did the 7 day reserve tour and loved it. Our guide, Yoan (Johan) was very friendly and knowledgable. He taught us a lot about not just the wildlife, but the plants, ecosystem, the native people and the Amazon traditions as well. Yoan really went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and understood everything we saw. You can tell he has a love for the jungle and wants to share that with everyone.
We loved the itinerary for each of the days, often starting the day early with bird watching followed by day/night walks to see monkeys, insects, capybaras, giant otters and black/white caiman. During the day we had some free time to read a book on a hammock and unwind. Although wifi was available at both lodges we elected to disconnect for the week which made the trip extremely relaxing.
Also a big thanks to Timoteo, our chef, who cooked amazing meals for us. There was honestly so much food and the variety was excellent. We brought heaps of snacks with us and never touched them which is rare!
Not sure if we got lucky but the week we went the weather was quite mild. Little bit of rain and cool during the day which I loved. Fully expected to be hot and sweaty for most of the week. But just be mindful that the weather can be cold, especially at night, depending on the time of year. We went in late June.
One minor note to make - the itinerary says breakfast isn’t included on the first day. So we brought food. However on the drive to the Amazon they make a stop at a designated cafe which had breakfast ready for our arrival. We just simply needed to pay 15 soles each. This was a nice gesture and we much rathered what they provided, it just meant we didn’t need the food we brought so just a note for future travellers.
All in all this was an amazing experience and one that we will...
Read moreWe booked the 3N/4D tour because there's quite a lot of travel time, and we hoped to have a better chance of seeing animals. Unfortunately, our experience was bad and not worth the time and money.
• We saw very few animals in Manu national park: only parrots in the morning of Day 2 (they weren't there Day 3), some monkeys, some birds, and caiman eyes. We were warned that the wildlife in reality is less than the itinerary, but this was really disappointing.
• The journey on the first day took 12 hours. We only stopped for breakfast, lunch, and one viewpoint. Nearly the whole journey was by car (in contrary to the itinerary) and only a ¾-hour boat ride.
• The guide spoke very limited English, so communication was difficult. It wasn't clear to us that the excursion on day 3 would consist of 2 hours boat (nice), 3 hours walking through very dense jungle (ok, but no animals), and 3 hours wading through the river, sometimes up to waist height (an awful experience). We didn't have waterproof bags for our belongings. We would have stayed at the Lodge if we had known this beforehand. The goal of this excursion was to spot animals. Unfortunately, we didn't see any. It turned out that this was pretty much impossible at the time of the excursion (the middle of the day).
• Drinks (soft drinks, wine, beer) were supposed to be included by meals, but they weren't available most of the time.
• During a heavy rain, our tree house turned out not to be waterproof, and our beds were very wet.
• Something positive: The tubing was fun. As was the campfire on the...
