Location: Located along a very narrow stretch of the street “Calle Tandapata”. It is so narrow that pedestrians need to take real care when a motor vehicle passes by. Only a single vehicle can move through this street. The width of the street as shown in “2D Google maps” is somewhat deceptive. But the 3D view of Google Maps of the street showed an accurate condition of the street. We tried to get “Uber” taxis to the hotel address here. Many of them could not locate the hotel accurately and cancelled the trips (most likely due to interrupted satellite navigation affecting the UBAR app around this area and difficult/ restricted vehicle access). Although the area was well lit, the area appeared isolated (for a first time visitor) and felt unsafe. Due to uneven surface and steep incline when walking, taking a taxi is a better alternative. ||Amenities: We requested a “Superior Matrimonial Room” as advertised and shown with a photo in their own website. We got a reservation for a double room. We repeated our request for a “superior matrimonial Room”. Then they reconfirmed a superior double matrimonial room, but not what was advertised and shown in the website photo. When we got there, the room we got had “double bed” and another single bed. What we expected was one “queen” size bed as shown in the picture against a “superior matrimonial Room”. The room was cramped as a result of the extra single bed in the room. The double bed was too small for us hence uncomfortable. We manage one night and then requested a room with a “queen size” bed as advertised at the price. But none was available. As such we decided to leave the hotel after one night. Even though it was wrong “description of the room type” given to us we were charged an additional 50% of additional day at check-out.||WiFi is available only in public areas and not in the rooms. Safety deposit box is too small. The Surrounding area was very pleasant||Reception/Service: The reception staff was very courteous and helpful. We were promised a free shuttle to the hotel from Cusco Airport to the hall on arrival. However our flight was rescheduled and arrived early. AS we did not inform the revised arrival time, we were charged for the shuttle arranged via a different “taxi” company. ||Bath room: Satisfactory||Cleanliness: Good, Did not stay long enough to comment...
Read moreWe recently visited Tika Wasi Casa Boutique Hotel on a trip to Peru and spent two nights there. This is a nice place to stay in Cusco. Each room has a different decoration mixing styles and objects from different origins. Rooms are spacious and clean. A garden / patio in the middle of the hotel provides a space to chill and relax and contemplate the stunning view over Cusco. Location is actually both the hotel's strong and weak point. Strong point because of the panoramic view over the city. Weak point because of the difficulty to access the hotel. Cusco Historic District around Plaza de Armas and Plaza San Blas is a maze of steep and narrow streets where two cars cannot pass each other. On the way to the airport we got stuck for more than 10 minutes by a truck delivering water to a nearby hotel. This is something to take into consideration when taking a flight or a train. Another point to highlight is the absence of elevator. We had to carry our bags to the second floor where our room was located with very limited assistance from the hotel staff. This is a point for improvement. Another point for improvement is breakfast. Not breakfast itself which offers fresh products and quite a few options but breakfast room, relatively small and dark in the underground floor. It is a pity that with such a great panorama over Cusco management didn't find a place to allow customers to enjoy it at breakfast. Overall Tika Wasi Casa Boutique Hotel is a very nice place to stay in Cusco and I don't hesitate to...
