This place looks nothing from the outside other than white walls and a blue door. But press the doorbell and a lovely receptionist will greet and welcome you. Inside on the left is reception, straight ahead a courtyard and to your right a dining / sitting room. Lovely. Rooms: Spacious and clean with plenty of extra blankets, soap dispenser in shower, towels and a hairdryer. Customer Service: Very good. All the staff were lovely and helpful whenever required. As you need to ring the doorbell to get back into the building, they were always quick and efficient so you weren’t standing out on the street for too long. They will also provide you a map of Cusco so you can orient yourself around the town. Wifi: Better at reception than in your room although it can be a little fickle. TV: Flat screen tv in room with only one channel with English which was CNN. The other 40+ are a variety of shows in Spanish including plenty of American movies and sitcoms in Spanish. Breakfast: If included it is held in the quaint glass dining room with tea, coffee, eggs, rolls, yoghurt, cereal, avocado, cheese, ham etc. If you need more food, as for it and they will provide. Power: 220v, two prong Wheelchair/Disabled: Friendly on ground floor but pavestones make it uneven. Kid friendly: Yes Noise: Very little street noise but room walls are paper thin. Parking: You’ll most probably make your own way here so parking isn’t an issue but note it is a one way street...
Read moreAs per the previous reviews, this is an historical space with lots of quirky charm. It is not as Spartan as a youth hostel, but it is adequate. The customer service was excellent. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the breakfast variety. NO hot water at the sink but a wonderful, large hot shower. The rooms were large and adequately furnished, however the wall heater didn't work. Though it was chilly with no heat, the heavy wool blanket on the bed provided ample warmth. On a Monday night, the music below my room was thumping loudly for hours. It seemed odd to me because when I looked out my window, I saw no customers. Finally, the street in front of the Inkarri has extremely narrow sidewalks, so you must be exceptionally cautious because though there are lots of crosswalks in Peru, pedestrians have no right of way anywhere and there is a frenetic madness in the driving customs. There was no restaurant available when we arrived on a Sunday night so we walked about 10 minutes to a wonderful little spot, Cicciolina that serves incredibly delish artisanal pizzas, tapas, and other mostly Italian dishes. Finally, just like how pedestrians haveno right of way, do not be surprised if your van or cab is mere inches away from the bicycle, motorcycle, or vehicle in front of you. Assured clear distance is a foreign concept here. Enjoy Cusco. It is a...
Read moreThis hostel is not 3*.There isn’t even basic toiletries like shampoo in the bathrooms. We had to find a market at night to buy shampoo. The rooms are freezing cold. The small heater in the room is not sufficient to warm up the room. Tap water was spitting and losing pressure. The breakfast has corn flakes, cold scrambled eggs and pancakes with jam.
We stayed in other 3* hotels near Cusco through our travel agency and this hostel does not compare. The pictures on the website are from the superior suite and not the standard room and they make it look much bigger and nicer in the pictures. I’m giving two stars only because the staff was nice and tried to upgrade us to the suite for the night at an extra charge and our agency was able to get refund after we switched hotels. Only recommeded for travelers on a budget looking for a place to stay for a night.
————————————————— Regarding the response from the hotel: The review wasn’t about our travel agency booking a standard room, it is about the fact that this is a budget hostel with limited amenities as I explained in more detail above. The summary is : Don’t expect 3 star amenities. We’ve seen two rooms, they both only had soap and were cold. Eggs and pancakes were cold. All facts. You can pay 20$ more and get really nice 3* hotels closer to the...
