It's unfortunate because I wanted to give this hotel a decent rating, however right after we checked out I noticed $100 USD was missing from my wallet (which I always kept hidden in a drawer in our room). Our friends in the room next door also came back on the last day and saw someone had obviously gone through their backpack and had stolen their expensive sunglasses (and they didn't even try to clean up the mess afterwards). We were both very good about locking our door, but there was fishy business going on with the staff. The front desk guy kept telling us there is only one key per room so we had to leave our key with them if we wanted it cleaned, but that's a lie because we saw a guy who at least looked like a worker walking around with a huge set of spare keys, and we even saw him enter our room with them a couple times while we were inside the room. The employees seemed courteous enough during our stay, but when we confronted them about it upon checkout they just shrugged it off and said they'll check with the morning staff, but never got back to us. I've written several e-mails still with no response, so I can only assume they are all in on it together. They are a bunch of crooks who take advantage of tourists....
Read moreOk so the wifi is SLOW but that is Iquitos for you, the wifi sucks pretty much all over town. We asked to change rooms as there was no wifi signal in the back rooms, reception kindly accommodated us. The new room at the front of the hotel (205) was surprisingly quiet despite facing the street. The bed was comfortable but could do with a blanket instead of just a sheet. Cable TV was a bonus. The aircon was so appreciated in steamy Iquitos! The unit got quite noisy one evening and although it couldn't be fixed, reception did their best to tinker with it. The pressure from the shower head in this room is little more than a dribble which takes about 10 minutes to get hot. Hopefully the owner managed to fix this. He let us use a spare shower elsewhere which worked well. Breakfast is simple and sufficient. The hotel is located a couple of blocks from the main square and is a nice escape from the noisy, hot and dirty streets of Iquitos. I would consider staying at Hotel Dubai again if I have the misfortune of returning...
Read morePro: This is one of the few places that have air conditioning. ||Con: The staff were VERY sketchy. They said we had to leave the key with the front desk so they could clean our room. Ok, I get that - however, when my husband was working, I would hangout in the room during the day and a few times (while I had the key inside the locked room with me) staff would unlock my door and come in! This happened about 2 times until they realized that I was usually there. That means they had an extra key and didn't need our key at the front desk. Our last day there, when went out, we had all our stuff packed up in our room and when we got back things were open and unzipped. Staff went into our room and stole my Ray Bans ($200 value). . They also slowly stole cash from our friends in the neighboring...
