Samiria Ecolodge — Hotel in Iquitos

Unfortunately the lodge is now somewhat run down, and the management lax (the other 5 guests we met did not seem impressed). Illustrative examples include;

pickup delayed by two hours

Running water was intermittent throughout our stay.

Showers varied in quality between rooms (some had poor flow) - we tried two rooms and at least one other guest made the same comment.

One of the rooms had no air conditioning (the unit was broken).

Hot water was only available for the limited tomes that there was electricity.

The food was served with little choice on food, initially there were no vegetarian options available.

They had no lager on the first two days and no butter on the last day.

The coffee was over brewed and so very bitter.

The mosquito netting in the main building had holes in it which means that one got bitten a lot while inside if not wearing bug spray.

In summary the place clearly has potential but these issues really let it down and made it feel like it was badly managed (lovely staff - poor management). The staff did their best but our guide ended up having to double up as a translator and manager which was below ideal.

Este junio estuvimos 4 dias en Samíria Ecolodge con Amazon Canopy expeditions. Estábamos solos en el Lodge. Tuvimos un cocinero de primera que nos mimo y cuido todos los detalles de nuestras comidas. Nuestro guía tenia poca experiencia y poco conocimiento del lugar pero hicimos excursiones en bote y algunas andando que nos gustaron. Las instalaciones del lodge, en cambio, estaban en malas condiciones (excepto el comedor), sin ningún tipo de mantenimiento, ni cuidado. Había piscina pero daba asco meterse en ella. Las habitaciones debieron ser bonitas en otros tiempos pero actualmente están desastrosas (baños con las baldosas saltadas, grifos por los que apenas sale agua, aire acondicionado que no funciona...). A demás, el nivel de limpieza deja mucho que desear. A una pareja que viajaba con nosotros les tuvieron que cambiar de lodge y no les cambiaron las sabanas en la nueva habitación, ni limpiaron el aseo. Una pena porque el lugar es bonito y con un poco de atención podría ser perfecto. Dista mucho de serlo! No os lo recomiendo...
