Azalea Hotels & Residences Boracay — Hotel in Malay

The hotel has a good location. 400 meters to the main beach, 600 meters to D‘Mall. But to walk in the strong rays of sun makes this a bad location, as the walkway has no cover. The hotel main entrance is from a tiny lane and the hotel backside faces the main road and they have no entrance from the main road. It would be nice if they open an access way for hotel guest from the back door so that one can come out straight into the main road. The hotel is an apartment hotel. The room initially assigned to us had red ants all over the kitchen counter table, upon request our room was changed to the new wing where the rooms are better well furnished. There is very less light in the room based on the size of 700 square feet. The bed was big and comfortable.The sofa cum-bed was not comfortable at all. Daily cleaning was very good by the housekeeping staff. The staff at the reception and guards on duty were all polite, friendly, smiling at all times. This hotel is value for money hotel. Most guests were domestic tourist or from Mainland China, there were no other foreigners at this hotel. This hotel caters to domestic tourist from Philippines and from China. The restaurant breakfast is the worst breakfast none can have. The selections are limited and the fruits are never fresh. There is nothing for vegetarians. The chef is rude and unaccomodating. I found out the reason why the restaurant does not give a dam about hotel guest because the restaurant is outsourced by the hotel to a third party and the restaurant staff are horrible. The hotel should change the restaurant contract to some other operator as it spoils the name of the hotel. Despite our request a month before our visit, we had requested for vegetarian meal, but the hotel nor the restaurant made no efforts to heed our request despite staying 5 nights with them, it was a nightmare as they don’t offer rooms without breakfast option and the breakfast is the worst anyone can have in a hotel in any part of the world. I would not recommend the breakfast at this hotel for anyone. Unless, the hotel management changes the operator and gets a better operator who cares about hotel guests. Overall experience, the hotel has many, many, many shortcomings but the staff and their attitude overpowers all the shortcomings. The room are all run down even the bathrooms and even the furnished rooms are all starting to look dated. But because of the space, it’s a good for a large family stay as it has kitchen and one can cook as the hotel provides all the utensils. The cleaning is good by the hotel staff. We had a great stay at Azalea Residences in Boracay! The hotel is conveniently located near the main road, making transportation very easy. It's also one of the designated stops for the Southwest Hop-on Hop-off bus transfers, so getting around the island was hassle-free.

It’s just a 5-minute walk to the beachfront in Station 2, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. D'Mall is also within walking distance—around 10 to 15 minutes away.

The room we stayed in was spacious and ideal for groups, comfortably fitting up to six people. It had two double beds and a convertible sofa bed. Room amenities were great: TV, a fully-equipped kitchen with utensils and plates, refrigerator with complimentary water bottles, a microwave for reheating food, hair dryer, toiletries, and towels. The staff was more than willing to refill toiletries, replace towels, and even wash dishes if needed—which was a huge plus!

We chose a room with a breakfast buffet included at Kuya J restaurant. The food was good and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Check-in was a bit slow due to the hotel being fully booked, but the staff remained professional and helpful throughout. They assisted us with our luggage and even provided beach towels when we needed them.

Despite being fully booked, the hotel remained relatively quiet—perfect for relaxation. The air-conditioning worked incredibly well (almost too well—we had to raise the temperature at one point), which was a relief given the hot weather.

Check-out was smooth and quick. Overall, Azalea Residences offers comfort, convenience, and great value for money. We’d definitely consider staying here again on our next...

Lage: 4 Sterne Das Hotel liegt an der Hauptstraße, es herrscht viel Verkehr, ist aber bei geschlossenem Fenster im vierten Stock auszuhalten. Über eine Gasse, die sehr holprig ist, erreicht man in rund 4 Minuten die Strandpromenade.

Eingangsbereich: 3 Sterne Auf den ersten Blick repräsentativ, große Leinwand mit bewegten Bildern - und davor steht die Rezeption. In der Eingangshalle herrscht viel Betrieb, es gibt Sitzgelegenheiten. Die Atmosphäre ähnelt einem Touristen-Hotel. Es wird keine Musik gespielt, auch sonst ist die Atmosphäre nüchtern. Zum kurzen verweilen reicht es aus.

Zimmer: 3 Sterne Wir hatten ein Deluxe Zimmer. Diese Zimmer Kategorie verfügt über einen kleinen französischen Balkon (2 m breit 50 cm tief). Das Zimmer ist geräumig und gut ausgestattet, es gibt eine kleine Küche, einen Kühlschrank und eine Mikrowelle. Das Bad ist sehr klein und sehr einfach gehalten. Handtücher werden regelmäßig gewechselt. Das Zimmerservice ist gut.

Pool: 1 Stern Der Pool befindet sich auf der 6. Etage (auf dem Dach) des Hotels. Er ist groß, dort befinden sich auch Liegen. Weitere Annehmlichkeiten sind dort nicht zu finden. Handtücher können geliehen werden. Schatten gibt es keinen. Sonnenschirme gibt es auch auf Nachfrage nicht! Eine Bar ist ebenfalls nicht verfügbar. Das Personal ist freundlich aber es ist lediglich dafür da, Handtücher herauszugeben. Dies kommt nur selten vor, da sich so gut wie keine Personen am Pool befinden. Der Pool liegt schlichtweg mitten in der Sonne und ist aufgrund der exponierten Lage nicht zu gebrauchen. Sonnenbrand ist nach kurzer Zeit vorprogrammiert.

Frühstück: 0 Sterne Das Frühstück ist eine Frechheit in vielerlei Hinsicht. Sowohl die Sauberkeit als auch das Angebot ist unterirdisch. Die Angestellten räumen die Tische nur auf Nachfrage leer um Platz zu schaffen für Folgegäste. Essensreste stehen überall herum. Die vorhandenen Essensreste werden dann beim putzen auf den Boden gewischt, so dass man umgeben von Unrat Platz nimmt. Die Bestuhlung ist teilweise durch gebrochen, man ist zunächst bemüht einen intakten Tisch mit Stühlen zu finden. Es gibt Reis und Nudeln, ansonsten mehrere warme Gerichte, die nicht appetitlich aussehen. Getrocknete Fischköpfe, eine leere Suppe oder einen Kaffee, welcher kaum danach schmeckt da er viel zu wässrig ist, ist verfügbar. Blattsalat gibt es nur auf Nachfrage, wenn man Glück hat, gibt es eine (1!!!) Marmelade (die ist heute bei uns ausgegangen). Ansonsten gibt es eine Brotsorte (Toast ) mit Butter. Das Personal im Frühstücksbereich ist freundlich, steht aber überwiegend rum, wenn Dinge ausgehen muss man danach fragen ob noch etwas verfügbar ist. Das Frühstücksbuffet sieht insgesamt sehr schmierig und dreckig aus. Wir hatten Schwierigkeiten überhaupt etwas essbares dort vorzufinden. Alte Würstchen, ein paar Nudeln und ein bisschen Salat mit trockenem Brot sollte das Grundbedürfnis am Morgen befriedigen.

Personal: 4 Sterne Der Zimmerservice ist bemüht und sehr freundlich. Er macht seine Arbeit gut. Die Personen an der Rezeption sind stets freundlich, jedoch nicht bemüht, Missstände abzustellen. Anmerkungen werden weg gelächelt.

Preis-Leistung: 2 Das Gesamtangebot steht in einem Missverhältnis zu dem aufgerufenen Preis. In der Nähe gibt es bessere Unterkünfte, mit einem guten Frühstückservice und einer tollen Poolanlage mit Bar, Springbrunnen und eingebettet in einer Grünanlage. Exemplarisch darf hier das Hotel „Le Soleil de Boracay“ aufgeführt werden, welches zudem über einen direkten Strand Zugang verfügt. Dort sind Getränke oder kleine Speisen auch noch nach 9:00 Uhr abends zu erhalten. Auf Nachfrage um 9:10 Uhr abends wurde uns hier mitgeteilt, man habe bereits geschlossen.

Fazit: Zimmer sind okay, Personal ist freundlich. Gesamtarrangement ähnelt einer heruntergekommenen Jugendherberge und Massentourismus. Die Sauberkeit im Essens-Bereich ist unterirdisch.
