I really wanted to like this place but the service was so disappointing. It was not even busy during this time.
Firstly, the lady did not fully wipe down the table we were seated at. When I wiped it down myself with some water and tissue, we could see that there were food residue coming off!
For a party of 5 we were only given 1 menu. We were ordering ala carte so we had to either take a pic of the menu or just wait for each person or pair to be done looking. Not the end of the world but looking back this did not help the overall experience.
The guy taking our order didn't write down our order. He recited our order back to us and thought it would've been fine. He also tells us that the fried chicken will take 30 mins which we were ok with.
Our orders all come out 10mins apart. By the time one person would be done eating, someone else would just be getting theirs. 30 mins past and while we did get our chicken, there were no signs of my bibimbap. I was so confused as to how a dish consisting of rice, blanched vegetables, some beef, and an egg would take longer to make than the fried chicken that they said would take 30 mins.
Additionally, a party member had to ask the server for a water pitcher refill since he haven't bothered to check or give us one. The server takes the pitcher and walks away. 10 mins later, my party member had to get up and remind the server and ended up just getting the refill themself because the server just forgot. Again, it was not even busy. Maybe there were 3 other tables at the time.
After 40 mins we finally say something and reassure us that the bibimbap is coming. I get it about 10 mins later.
When we got the bill, we could see that they just tacked on bibimbap at the end clearly written in a different pen and handwriting - meaning that they just forgot my order.
For the entire hour that we were there, they never checked up on us. Never got a water refill. And straight up just forgot my order. The saving grace was that the food was actually pretty good and that they didn't tack on a 10% service charge for no service.
This was my experience for ala carte. Maybe you'll have better luck if...
Read moreMost of the Korean samgyupal restaurants around White Beach only offers unlimited pork samgyupsal for around 499 to 599 pesos. If you want to have unlimited beef, you have to add 200 pesos and some restaurants just give it only in 1 serving. That’s why we looked around the area and luckily we found Koryo Restaurant Boracay in Google Maps. It’s along Sunset Rd in Station 2, just beside Hennan Garden Resort.
They offer unlimited pork samgyupsal for 599 pesos and unlimited beef shabu shabu and samgyupsal for 579 pesos. But since they have an ongoing promo which is available until further notice, you can eat unlimited pork samgyupsal for 499 pesos only. We got their offer of 579 pesos for unlimited beef and pork with shabu shabu.
We love their beef, it’s thinly sliced and has good marbling. The dipping sauce and the shabu shabu soup is well seasoned and has seafood balls and various vegetable options. Very umami. If you enjoy your K-BBQ with side dishes, you won’t find your favorites here. They only have kimchi, pickled radish, potato marble, pickled cabbage and 1 serving of mozzarella with corn. Too bad, they don’t have lettuce. I don’t eat pork so I wouldn’t know how it tastes like but my friends find it too thick and bland.
Overall, we had a good meal. Loads of beef! Good ambiance and AC is cool enough. Good exhaust also so the place didn’t smell like a smoke house. The staff are very accommodating and attentive. I hope they could at least add egg, odeng and fried chicken in the future. But we’ll definitely eat here again! A premium KBBQ place at the heart of Bora....
