We enjoyed this off-the-beach location for the privacy and eco friendly atmosphere. It's a bit of a steep walk up a driveway sized road, which can be difficult to traverse when it's raining or the ground is wet from morning dew. ||We had a bus shuttle staff haul our 2 rolling luggage up the hill, so it was a big help, because depending on your physical condition, it might be hard to do on a hot day. ||Once you're in the resort, past the entry gate, you're greeted by a lush treed property, with a pool to the right, just before the check in building. You're given a mango turmeric non-alcoholic welcome drink, and a cool towel to wipe away the airline grime and sweat from the extreme heat. ||Adjacent to the check in building is a covered dining area where the complimentary breakfast is served. The cooking is done by a restaurant partner off-site, so your orders are taken the afternoon before breakfast. I suppose the food is delivered after 8:30 am, to the outdoor dining staff, so when you arrive, they have it ready. I'm guessing there's a chafing dishes where they keep it warm, so I wouldn't wait too long to get to breakfast. ||The offerings aren't extensive, but there are enough that during our stay of 4 days, we didn't have the same breakfast, twice. The one thing is that the fresh orange juice tastes more like powdered OJ/Tang but still tasty. The food ranged from shakshouka, omelettes, pancakes, etc. - always with fresh salad. It was plenty to fill oneself before heading out to the beach, and enough to last until a late lunch. There are kitty cats who meow for food at the dining pavilion, so don't encourage them, or they'll be your constant companion. (I'm allergic, so I didn't indulge them.)||It's so nice to hear the fauna around at all times, and unlike some other commenters, the roosting fowl in the neighborhood didn't bother us from our location in unit #804. The path stones were adequate to keep off the grass/soil, and the evening lighting is just enough to find your way back to your room. I felt more in touch with nature than our beachside hotel (Hennan Garden) that we switched to when we decided to extend our stay for a few more days upon return from another nearby Island. ||Our room was a corner unit, and had 2 very large windows that looked out onto the lush trees beside the dining pavilion. The windows don't have a complete seal, so there are bugs and lizards that can come in if you're not diligent about checking that the wind doesn't create a large gap in the frame. I'd recommend insect repellent to help out, but we still got bit, which, given the Island location is hard to avoid. ||The room itself was spacious, with a safe, mini fridge, wide armoire, drying rack and clothes hooks beside the bathroom. There was a shower stall with rainfall shower head and hand held with a well-draining floor. There's a window in the shower area that can pull outwards from suction from the opening and closing of the bathroom door, so make sure to close it before you start your shower. ||The bed was so comfortable, and was actually twin beds placed together, which didn't bother me at all in terms of comfort. The AC was more than adequate. Because the bed was an etagere shelf, which was helpful to store the knick knacks we accumulated over our stay. The only down side is there wasn't an outlet on that side of the bed, so we shared the outlet on the other side of the bed, closer to the desk by the coffee maker/kettle and mini fridge. There are no microwaves in the rooms, so I guess the fridge is just for drinks. Complimentary bottled water is provided. ||The TV can Bluetooth or is a Smart TV, but we didn't bother or have the inclination to just sit in bed and watch. There were way too many options nearby to default to potato lounging.||There was an umbrella placed by the door, for the occasional rain and for sun shade. The big bonus was the complimentary beach slippers, which we used indoors, as we left our shoes to dry by the front doorstep. Also, by the front doorstep was a lounge chair for use as either a towel rest or to enjoy the evening breeze. ||The pool was about 20 - 25 feet and perfectly fine for cooling off and getting a few laps in before heading out. It wasn't highly chlorinated, which was a nice change for me, as I'm an avid swimmer. The flowers and leaves are skimmed off every day by the staff, but it's nice to encounter the falling flora as I swim. The bath towels are available from the front desk in the building right next to the pool, and there are a few lounge chairs right by the pool. A few feet away is another outdoor covered seating area, with a lounge chair and a Korean style platform - pyungsang - that you can either use to eat an outdoor meal on, or even use as a lounge platform in the shade.||There are lovely hand crafted items and apparel in the check in building, which may be purchased on an honor system of what you feel the items are worth. You insert your payment and record the item it's for on the ticket, and give you the front desk staff. I would have bought, but I'm out luggage was already brimming with gear and souvenirs. ||The staff were wonderful and came to our assistance whenever we needed them - from a curtain want that detached, to fixing the be safe battery that didn't lock when we closed it. The dining staff always had our meals ready and drinks promptly served. ||We'll be returning with our adult children for a few days visit, before moving into the noisier beachfront resorts in the area. We feel we need to appreciate the quietude of the off the beaten path location that the Henry Resort offers, before we interest ourselves in the frenetic atmosphere of the beach facing locations and their restaurants with non...

Read moreThis is a lovely hotel with limited guests so the front desk gets to know you very well during your stay. They use what's app to communicate with you since there's no phones. Wifi is not super fast
The only downside is the hotel is up a very steep driveway so folks might have trouble making it up to the hotel on foot but tuktuk drivers have no issues with driving you all the way up and I'm sure the front desk can call a ride for you if you need it. I view it as security against tsunamis but I have no idea how exposed this island is to tsunami risk.
The breakfast options are limited and provided by a partnership with a local business, but as long as you expect powdered orange drink for "juice" or creamer in your coffee and stake baguettes, you'll be fine. There's an awesome coffee\drink shop just next to the driveway entrance with fast wifi and cold ac.
The hotel shares the hill with other hotels and at least 1 local family with 5 dogs and chickens. While the rooster does start crowing fairly early it's not so loud that it might wake you up and I'm a light sleeper.
The unit we stayed in had fairly loose windows so opening the door caused the bathroom window open slightly allowing anole lizards to come in and search for bugs. Luckily, there were no bugs in the room except for the occasional mosquito. The property does seem to have a fair amount of mosquitoes as well and a stray cat family that makes sure to show up for breakfast to beg for food. If you ignore them, they go to bother another guest. Luckily, they never jumped...
