Calypso Beach and Dive Resort has always been our family's go to hotel and home when in Boracay. ||All their facilities that are well kept and maintained paired with the excellent service provided by their staff not to mention its excellent location - are all the reasons that we keep coming back. Read moreI accidentally booked the wrong date for my trip - yes, I know that was very dumb, but it was an error I take full ownership for. I know the booking was non-refundable and so that is my error. I tried asking if they would reconsider refunding, they wouldn’t. They didn’t even try to propose any solutions like a partial refund. It was simply - no refund. It's sad that people are not even willing to grant others some grace or lenience for human error. I had booked for 5 nights - why could they not have even refunded 2 or 3 nights??With the refund a no-go, I then asked if I could change the date. That request was denied which I find completely bizarre. I've never in my life encountered a place not willing to change the date. I mean, I don't live in the Philippines and so would be working at my job in a different country on the date I had erroneously booked for.I don’t really understand the reasoning behind this. It seems very odd for any hospitality industry to not be willing to let the customer change the date. My reasoning for wanting to change was human error. I wonder if someone booked and suddenly there was a family tragedy - I guess the hotel would just say too bad, we don’t budge - no cancellation, no date change, no refund. While they did allow me to change the name on my booking, turns out even a free paid 5-night stay here was difficult for others to manage because of the short time frame - I had booked for a stay two-weeks from when I booked it. That means it was basically impossible to find someone to take over the booking in 2 weeks - someone who a) lived in or near the Philippines, b) had the time off and c) had the money for a flight.I had looked forward to going here, but this experience has left a very bitter taste in my mouth so don't think I will ever book here again. What happened to the days of hotels / resorts being human enough to show some compassion and kindness rather than just greedily taking your money. I really don't understand why they couldn't allow me to...
Read morePros: 1. Location. Station X. First line, the hotel is literally on the beach. There are free sun loungers, umbrellas and beach towels for guests. 2. The staff is polite and smiling. 3. The room is quite old, but spacious, there is a balcony with a table and chairs. 4. Quite clean, almost no insects (I only saw a couple of ants in the room). 5. There is a swimming pool, but I did not use it. What should be improved: 1. There is Wi-Fi, but it constantly drops out. I had to go to the reception twice to get a new login & password, reconnecting did not help. 2. There is an air conditioner, but it is old, VERY noisy (which interferes with sleep, and without it, it is also impossible to sleep - too hot) and is directed at the bed! 3. When I checked in, there was no dryer for clothes in my room, and there was hair on the pillow. I had to ask three times to fix it. And it was done only the next day. 4. Breakfasts are available, but not very tasty. Although the service is very caring. By the way, the lunch was good enough (I ordered soup). Important: 1. Green algae! This is not the hotel's fault, but when booking accommodation here, please note that this part of the beach is now, in March, simply drowning in algae. 2. Since the main pedestrian path runs between the hotel and the beach with sun loungers, please note that there can be no talk of any privacy. Crowds of people walk along this path non-stop, traders persistently approach and offer their goods (jewelry and other). In general, for a 3-star hotel and taking into account the location, this is a good option for accommodation. But it all depends on which pros / cons are...
