WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER – AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

If you’re considering booking a stay at the Yellow Mango Resort, DON’T. My husband and I booked four nights here, and it turned out to be an absolute nightmare—by far the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had in our years of traveling.

At first, everything seemed fine. The resort appeared clean and well-maintained, and we had no reason to suspect the disaster that was about to unfold. But then, I took a shower in our room and immediately realized something was horribly wrong. Unbeknownst to us, the hotel staff had dumped an excessive amount of chlorine into the drain near the pool, and somehow this toxic water ended up coming directly out of our showerhead.

Within minutes, my skin turned red and itchy, my eyes burned, and I developed a splitting headache. I felt extremely sick from the exposure, and it only got worse. When we called the front desk to report what happened, the receptionist entered our room but immediately fled the bathroom, complaining of itchy eyes just from being near the shower.

At this point, we were horrified and demanded action. Instead of being helpful or apologetic, the hotel manager made everything worse. He confronted us angrily, refused to take responsibility, and rudely insisted there was nothing he could do because we had booked through Booking.com. When we contacted Booking.com, they informed us it was entirely the hotel’s responsibility to issue a refund.

Neither the hotel nor Booking.com took accountability, and the manager even stormed off in anger. To this day, despite repeated promises from the hotel, we still haven’t received a refund for this appalling experience.

We have traveled extensively, staying in all types of accommodations, and we’ve never encountered anything like this. The lack of basic safety, the complete disregard for customer well-being, and the infuriating lack of accountability make this place an absolute disaster.

If you value your health, safety, and peace of mind, DO NOT BOOK YOUR STAY AT THE YELLOW MANGO RESORT. It’s not worth the risk, the stress,...

I had a pretty long stay (15 days+) in this small and very quiet hotel, and i must say, YES this was a very good choice of mine. The place is still brand new as it opened only a few months ago. I was working online so i got extensive use of their wifi which worked fine most of the time, even when there were black outs, as they have a good generator. The rooms are big, well designed and the deco is simple yet classy, with hand made wooden cabinet and shelfs. The air con is very silent, fast to cool the room and not pointing up to the bed. There's also ceiling fan. The bedding, omg, very large and very comfy. Sheets are super clean and changed every 2 days. There's a nice little private terrace with a table for each room. The garden around the swimming pool is nice and cured. The swimming pool : my favorite. It's big enough to do laps, and best thing is that most of the time i was alone in there making it a nearly private pool for me. They have free pool towels for the guests. The staff is present and quick when needed but discreet the rest of the time, which i really appreciated. Effective help for tours, diving, scooter rental etc... Overall, as there are not many rooms in that hotel, it's super quiet, there's a peaceful and familiar atmosphere. The location is away enough from the busy Alona yet only a 10 mins walk to the main center. There's also a free shuttle every hour if one doesn't like walking. The bar/resto offers good breakfast that includes eggs, bacon, fruits and FRESH juice! There's also pizzas and snacks, as well as nice range of import beers and inexpensive happy hours drinks. Just next to the hotel there's also a bar with pool table that has an extensive choice of liquors (good rhum) and beers from all over the world.

Pro's : great peaceful atmosphere, very quiet, brand new hotel clean, modern and large rooms super bedding amazing pool helping staff

Con's : Not really although... i would have appreciated a little more breakfast variety, but that's only cause i stayed there long enough to...

The resort comprises of 12 rooms. Our room was very clean and comfortable. One bed is semi-double size and one single for my daughter. Room has air-con and fan. Hot water is consistent should you desire. No problems with Wi-Fi if that’s what you need too.||Pleasant days to be had hanging around the pool. Cleaned religiously everyday. Resort wasn’t so busy so we were able to swim all day. Accessing Panglao/Alona it’s no problem. Staff can call you a trike and it’s only a five minute journey. Also the resort has a free shuttle service. Only not available on Wednesday.||Food at the resort is limited but breakfast is good and filling. I think they have 4 to 5 options to choose from. Also, Staff can organize deliveries, filipino food, amazing local pizza from well established Italian restaurant close by. All payments at the resort must be made cash only. There are no credit card services available. The resort is still young but progressively growing.||Overall, Gucci and his team made us most welcome. Gucci (the owner) is an experienced tour guide so knows how to treat his guests, this reflects in the staff attitude too. ||Would we stay here again? Absolutely. Would recommend the resort organizing pick-up from the port and airport. It made our life so much easier having a driver there waiting. Also, prices for the services are very reasonable.||Book with confidence and enjoy your stay! We will be...

The Yellow Mango Resort proved to be a perfect choice on our return trip to Bohol. It wasn't right in the area of busy, hopping Alona Beach but close enough to easily get there if you wanted some excitement. At the same time though it was tucked far enough down a side road to be provide peace and quiet if that's what you were in the mood for. The room was great for the price with a queen size bed plus a smaller twin, ample room, strong AC, and décor that was a fair bit more inspired than the usual Philippine resort standard. Breakfast was included and quite delicious, served in the lobby area that doubled as a cozy cafe slash bar. The pool was a decent size and quite refreshing after a long day touring Bohol. Staff were polite and helpful although there were some instances of miscommunication particularly when they booked us an island hopping tour. The issue was relatively minor though and overall our stay was relaxing. If you're looking for a massive resort with expansive recreation options you'll want to look at the larger (and more expensive) establishments in the area but if a more cozy, laid-back vibe is your thing the Yellow Mango is well worth staying at.

The resort is pretty new (it was opened in October 2022). It has 12 rooms, all with small terraces overlooking the swimming pool. Rooms are well equipped (including refrigerator, safe, and ceiling fan). The rooms are bright, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The only minor inconvenience was the relatively low water pressure in the shower. A great swimming pool that looks really attractive during the day and even more at night when the lights start to change (blue to green and into red. Located in the side alley, in a peaceful neighborhood, approximately 15 minutes walk to Alona Beach. Instead of walking one may use their shuttle bus that operates from 8 am to 5 pm (except Wednesday). It starts at the resort at 5 minutes past the hour (08:05, 09:05, etc.) and returns from the parking near Alona Beach at a quarter past the hour (08:15, 09:15, etc.).
