We had a late lunch here during the 25 Abril celebrations and was super impressed with the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the service -- everything! I had the goat cheese sandwich and my husband had the Vegetariano -- both fresh and delicious and generously portioned. The goat cheese sandwich came with a little bowl of jam, which I spooned a little bit of onto each bite -- the mild sweetness of the fruit complemented the richness of the cheese perfectly.
I also had the caipirinha while he has a glass of the vinho Verde, and both were refreshing accompaniments to our meal. We polished it all off with a couple of their homemade chocolate chip cookies -- one dark chocolate and one milk -- and despite the fact that the server said it's basically from an American recipe, they were some of the best cookies I've ever had. Read moreO Melhor Bolo de Chocolate do Mundo has a kiosk branch along Ave. da Liberdade which makes for fun stop for a drink and chocolate cake slice while exploring Lisbon. Kiosk opening hours are 9am until late at night. They have a fair number of outdoor tables setup in the shade and pedestrian area on the east side of the avenue and they play good music as well.
We stopped here for slices of their self proclaimed 'World's Best Chocolate Cake' and coffee and were very happy with what was served. The cake has a few layers of chocolate merengue filled with dark chocolate mousse and is topped with a chocolate ganache. It is a smooth slice with a bit of crunch and texture from the merengue that dissolves in your moth. Overall, not sure if this is the best in the world. But it is a great cake slice to try while in Lisbon if you enjoy...
Read moreThe chocolate cake is to die for! I don’t understand how it’s composed but it is something we will literally find this place again for in the future! It presents as a standard cafe in the median of Av. de Liberdade. But we heard about it, so we went! For five adults and one child we got two soft tortilla dishes and split them. And three pieces of chocolate cake and split those as well. It’s cash only. So bring Euros. Bank machine is only a short walk away if you need it. The staff are super kind especially for those learning Portuguese. They are fluent in English but they were very kind about my trying Portuguese. The staff were also super kind to our seven year old asking for the bathroom key in “learning-style” Portuguese. They were great! The food was...
