I wish I could give this hotel 6 stars not 5. I chose this hotel based on its consistently high reviews and the amenities it offered in terms of value. The pictures of its cozy and elegant lobby offering a 24/7 coffee/tea/cookies and Port wine got me even more attracted to the hotel. We arrived in mid afternoon and started the check-in and realized that none of my prior communications with the hotel mentioning us "celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary" was completely ignored! I had booked our stay 5 months ago and gone back and forth with the hotel via emails to "consider any type of possible upgrade upon availability". To my surprise, we were assigned a room on the second floor! Henrique at the front desk was most courteous as he noticed all the notes and emails on our reservation proceeded without hesitation extending us an upgrade to perhaps one of the best rooms in any hotel-out of tens of hotels we have ever stayed in (big, small. luxury , midrange or budget). It was on top floor and just fantastic! |Everything about this hotel was EXCELLENT. The property manager Catia was always visible and so generous with her time with the guest. EVERY single member of the staff including but not limited to Andrea (front desk manager) Henrique and Wanderlae were always most courteous and attentive. Breakfast was a great spread and the staff ladies during breakfast were wonderful. One thing that we really appreciated was the breakfast hours from 7 to noon! We did not feel that we had to rush down before 10 (normal in most hotels) to catch breakfast. Breakfast was such an easy going time for us to relax and enjoy the offerings. In the afternoon and evening, we very much enjoyed the lobby atmosphere especially after coming back from our walks in (or up and down) Lisbon. Always fresh coffee, tea, cold pitcher of water, port wine, fruit basket, all kinds of cookies and pastries available 24/7 at the lobby.|The tree lined Avenida Librade is filled with luxury boutiques and hotels. This 4 star boutique hotel (5 star in my book) is a gem nestled in the middle of all 5 star hotels on the Avenida Librade Everything was EXCELLENT. There is NOTHING that I could fault with this hotel. |EXCELLENT: its location, size, staff, and amenities. Out of tens of hotel stays in the last 10 years in Europe, this WAS the BEST hotel stay we have had in Europe in a long time .|HAL is our choice for any stay in Lisbon. We enjoyed our stay so very much. You made us feel at home. |THANK YOU TO ALL. Hope to...

Read moreWe spent several nights at this lovely hotel in Lisbon and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The hotel has been designed with a real sensitivity to the city’s character. It has a sense of heritage and elegance that makes it feel very much part of Lisbon, not flashy or overly modern.||The welcome when we arrived was genuinely warm and set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel is small, maybe 30 rooms at most, which gives it a relaxed and personal atmosphere. Every member of staff we spoke to was kind, helpful and clearly took pride in what they do.||There are some really thoughtful touches, like complimentary pastéis de nata, tea, coffee and port available throughout the day. The rooms are a good size, very comfortable, and everything feels well put together. We spent a long time looking at different options before we booked and we were so glad we settled on this one.||The location was perfect. You can walk almost everywhere, which made exploring the city really easy. It’s much more convenient than the hotels up by the big roundabout at the end of the main avenue. They seem close on the map but are actually up a hill, which can get tiring. For anything further out, like Belém, Uber and Bolt were great. Every trip cost between 3 and 6 euros, even for longer journeys.||The service throughout our stay was absolutely impeccable. On my birthday, we had a knock on the door and were handed a bottle of local sparkling wine with compliments. I hadn’t mentioned it was my birthday but they’d picked up on it from the booking. That level of attention to detail really stood out.||Breakfast was excellent. Good quality, lots of choice, and it’s served until 12 which made mornings feel really relaxed. On our last day I stained a favourite polo shirt and asked if they had some dish soap so I could try to fix it. Instead, they took it, cleaned it properly and returned it to me with the stain gone, which was so kind and completely unexpected.||The pool was also a real bonus. After long days walking around the city, it was great to have somewhere to unwind and cool off.||Although it’s officially a four-star hotel, it felt like five stars in every way that mattered. We would...
