Room was clean, have both towels and hand towels, changed every day with clean ones. Pillows were good. To use room safe must pay deposit plus 2 euros/day. |Has room phone but no phone directory, so unable to phone housekeeping or reception. Had to go down to reception to complain about the choked sink (wash basin): Sink choked, flowing very slowly, waste water accumulated took long time to drain away. However nothing done. Complained in the morning and in the afternoon about the choked sink and unable to use the room phone since no directory. Reception staff in the afternoon did not take note about the choked sink. He said hotel does not give housekeeping phone number to guests. I said that I want to complain to the manager. He said that he had passed on many complaints to his manager, though his manager said “yes, yes” but he saw no change, including the fact that room phone has no directory to call reception or housekeeping. (When we returned 11 days later, there was still no phone directory in our hotel room.)|The following morning I told the reception staff that the sink was still choked. He was surprised and he went to our room to see the sink. After seeing that the sink was choked, he assured me that the sink would be cleared. Sure enough, when we returned to the hotel in the evening, the c hoked sink was cleared.|Has to climb 6 steps to reach lift/elevator. This can be a problem for older folks with heavy luggage.| On our return stay, the room was much smaller. Could not close door of shower room when standing in front of wash basin. Mini fridge did not work and none available for replacement. Toiletry tray in shower area was missing. Not enough space to stand for showering, making it impossible to have a proper shower. Holder for shower nozzle too loose, could not stay in position except when hose was pressed...
Read moreGot through a wowcher deal for 5 nights in Portugal..|On arrival at hotel it appeared very clean and staff very friendly but the decor was very dated and often tatty. The lift was very small and again very dated.|Our room 404 although quiet as it was at the back everyone's doors don't close quietly. The room itself again was very clean a credit to the staff but so dated and small.. The bed was very uncomfortable.. Partly due to the common hard matress you tend to find on the continent but also the rubber sheet under the bottom sheet.. Would hate to be there in the height of summer. There is ac but didn't really help.|No tea /coffee facilities but was a decent sized fridge.|The bathroom was probably the worst aspect.. Again clean.. Staff must have an uphill struggle with such old fixtures and decor and they should be credited for that.|Shower.. Or was it a small bath? Who knows toilet and basin basin also badly cracked and the Hairdryer.. Think I remember one of those from the 70s..|Breakfast was an extra which unfortunately we paid for. It was absolutely dire. Orange squash with cut up orange in the jug to try and make it seem real. Very poor selection of cold meat and cheese. A single shared bowl of suspect jam and a toaster that took 10 minutes to turn out slightly warm bread. Again staff friendly and helpful and made us an omelette.|After 2 sleepless night due to terrible mattress.. And my back problems we decided that we would book into the holiday Inn express around the corner.. A whole lot better and we enjoyed the rest if our first visit to Portugal immensely.|The owner of the flamingo Hotel clearly doesn't want to spend much on updating the place and raising his prices and I'm sure many have stayed there and found it OK but I just can't find a way of recommending it other than for the hard working...
Read moreThis hotel is 50-40% cheaper than any hotel in this area, hence, you can't ask too much. Yet, this hotel is way below the bar of what you can expect for your 70 EUR per night in Lisbon. The location is central, but I don't recommend it for tourists either. Rare restaurants around are expensive and snobby. There is only 1 humble coffee shop walking distance around and 1 grocery store with overpriced, but fairly good selection. And it pretty much wraps up the list of positive things I can tell about this legendary place. The room is definitely clean, but it looks dirty and extremely outdated. The furniture is depressively cheap and tasteless. Rooms are microscopic and dark. The "best" part is the bathroom though. You will discover officially the first single-use hand-wash basin in human history. It will fill up itself with water after the first use and force you to use shower instead. The shower will try to kill you each time you will try to climb this exotic base, please be careful. Hairdryer with mysterious and controversial title "elite basic" certainly was never designed to make it 21st century, therefore it is obviously single-use too. It also takes ages to dry even a humble male haircut. In summary, I recommend to avoid this hotel by any means. If you can't afford a better place, search for another district in Lisbon. There are fair, tasteful and clean places to stay, which deserve...
