I had the opportunity to live 2 months in the "Branca" room at Legend Loft. I found the room rental offer on spot-at-home. In short, the experience did not go well in part, was overall disappointing and a little bit uncomfortable, due to the quality and type of accommodation, and the management of the accommodation. I would only recommend this place as a last resort. However, the accommodation had some positive points according to my experience and the needs I had: the location, the comfort of the bed and it was quiet when I was there, despite poorly insulated walls as we were a maximum of 5 people in the flat, and most of the time very quiet. I will now detail 3 specifics reasons of disappointment during my stay.
Concerning the accommodation in itself, the bedrooms, kitchen and living room are small to me. In addition, the flat is generally humid due to the lack of ventilation system (characteristic of Lisbon's rather old buildings) and cold in winter (December) due to the lack of a heating system. In terms of equipment, the accommodation is half functional because it is not well maintained and provided, in my opinion, for example: no bottle opener, no clean and uncarbonised frying pans, a fragile and wobbly dining table, only one shelf in my cupboard, a very small sink that can barely be used (for the private bathroom in my bedroom), and a mixture of IKEA furniture (fragile) and mid 19th century wooden furniture (heavy). For a stay of several weeks, with 4 flatmates who cook little, it did its job, but with more flatmates it seems much more complicated and uncomfortable.
Concerning housing management, communication with the manager is a bit difficult, due to a slightly low level of English, and the lack of a contract for service and rent, which is a source of misunderstanding since some rules have only been specified to me when necessary. One rule only specified to me when necessary concerns the reception of a visitor for several days. It was mention on the spot-at-home that an additional person in the room would cost an increase of the price of 100 euros in the rent (450 euros for one month = 30 days) for a second person in the room for one month. My girlfriend came to visit me for 2 weeks, so I deduced that she would only have to pay 50 euros, especially with a daily rental "contract". However, the housing manager told me that it was 10 euros per day for less than 2 weeks (i.e. 150 euros for 15 days) and then 100 euros if more than 15 days (most logical rule...). So I deduced that she wanted me to pay 100 euros for my girlfriend's stay… Paying 550 euros for a room of about 10 m², this is clearly too much, even if you are two…Explaining everything at my arrival would have avoided such misunderstanding and feeling like I'm being fooled.
Finally, one element of the announcement of this accommodation on spot-at-home turned out to be false when I arrived. There was a reference to a washing machine being available in the accommodation. However, when I arrived there was no washing machine in the common rooms (bathroom and living room). However, there was one in the room near the entrance (why in a room?), but it is no longer for the use of the tenants or only if the manager offers it randomly, just like the cleaning service (service announced on the offer). This criterion of the offer was clearly decisive in the choice of my accommodation before I arrived in Lisbon, as it was for my flatmates (what they told me during discussions). This lie seems to me to be intentional, to attract tenants. This is perhaps not very surprising considering the economic context following the health crisis, but it is a bad long-term strategy, and clearly dishonest. I confronted the manager during an exchange, and she maintained that I was lying (who dares to say that to a client when he is justifiably dissatisfied?), and that this had never been mentioned on the offer (withdrawn from the site...
Read moreFirst off let me say that you will more than likely not be staying at the address given for this property so don't be shocked if you go there first as this is place they use for students!||||Around the corner in Av. Fontes Perieira De Melo they have another property on the 6th floor and there is a somewhat ''quaint'' lift up! The rooms are identified by the names of writers, I think, at least most of them seem to have won Nobel prizes for something! All very quaint, just like the lift.||||Maria and her mother are charming hostesses and full of information, and very helpful, and have maps and suggestions for you, such as a day trip to Sintra. ||||The accommodation in Avenue Fontes is a large apartment with 6 (?) rooms but you all share a common bathroom and there is a kitchen where you can do some really cookery if you want to, but really nice to be able to make a proper cup of tea/coffee in the morning, and a bowl of porridge (I must have my porridge every morning!).||||Nearby there is a supermarket, and also a couple of restaurants and I seem to remember seeing a bar as well, it is about 30 minutes walk into the old part of Lisbon, which is downhill on the way in but a bit of a long slow incline, not a hill as such, on the way back. But do as I did and stop to have something on the way back up to break the journey.||||Just down the road you can pick up one of the open top buses that do the tours around the city, there is public transport also close by.||||It is really like staying in somebody's house like a b and b, and such a nice selection of other people staying as well. And...
Read moreI strongly NOT recommend that place. Everything is dirty and covered by later of dust there. Next to the refrigerator there are 'fresh' sheets drying... next to it there is a basked with dirty ones. Inside room on the wardrobe there are some rubbish. In shared room (living room / kitchen) there are 'fresh' towels waiting for new guests - towel after contact with water they start to smell really, really badly..... Bathrooms... No comment, you will have dilemma where to put your clothes or toothbrush. Another thing about bathrooms is smell... In one of them you will feel something similar to cat piss, in other I can't even describe that smell but I wanted to vomit. I don't know why I feel sorry when I write that opinion but I just want to warn people like me and my friends. I will check if Airbnb put on bill 'cleaning service' - if yes I will ask them for refund. I can recommend photographer that made...
