My recent stay at Pensão Amor Madam's Lodge in Lisbon was a truly unique experience, to say the least. I'll admit, I booked somewhat blindly, and what I discovered was definitely unexpected, but ultimately delightful. This is not a family-friendly establishment; it's decidedly for adults and offers a playful, sensual atmosphere.||Pensão Amor walks a fascinating line somewhere between a boutique hotel, a historical attraction, and perhaps even a touch of a high-end "love hotel," though that label feels a bit too simplistic. Each room is uniquely designed and themed, and the enthusiastic staff are more than happy to share the history and stories behind each one. It adds an intriguing layer to the stay.||The attention to detail throughout the lodge is impressive. Everything was impeccably clean, which is always a plus. The location is absolutely fantastic, right on the vibrant Pink Street. You're surrounded by bars, clubs, and all sorts of entertainment, making it the perfect base for exploring Lisbon's nightlife.||Reading the other reviews I will add a bit based on my experience and spin. On my check out day I had a late flight. The staff were super kind and let me leave my heavy bags. Is there a walk up yes. Was there someone right there to open the door to get in when I go back no. I called via whatsapp and it was sorted. I would not have thought of it but for reading the other reviews. I've spend 700+ days at Marriotts, been to 7 continents, and 92 countries so I know a bit about hotels. This is not a full service luxury hotel nor was it priced that high for being in a major city is a lively part of town. This is more of a private hotel experience. I took it more like a theme hotel but maybe is you are into it this could be more. I was alone so I did not order the whips and handcuffs and swings etc but they were available. As I said not for kids. Was I there for all that no. Did I get to fully use it no. Was it an interesting experience yes. For me being near things and the price was right. I did not need a swimming pool or all that. If that is what you are looking for not the right place. I can not see low rating a place because its not what it didn't saw it was. Again I booked this and did not expect any of this until I got the welcome emails and was like wait what. I rolled with it and had a great experience and sent great photos home to friends. ||This is an awesome experience, whether you're traveling solo or with a partner. Just a word of caution: definitely leave the kids at home that's all. They might stumble upon some of the "hidden fun" left around, and it's certainly not appropriate for young eyes. If you're looking for something a bit different, a little risqué, and a lot of fun, I highly recommend Pensão Amor. I, for one, will...
Read moreThis place is a VIBE. Kinky, amazingly decorated, on the wildly popular Rua Nova do Carvalho (Pink Street), and non-stop entertaining. Really dig into the website and other reviews before booking to ensure you know what you're signing up for, because this is not a family-friendly place or meant for those who aren't up for a little adventure. ||If you read other reviews, you've heard that checking in or just getting into the building can be tricky. Confirm with the hotel ahead of time when you're hoping to arrive. If you have suitcases like we did, definitely enter through the bar entrance on the road above Pink Street (I think it's called Rua do Alecrim). The gate in is narrow, the steps are tight, and so is the doorframe to the bar, a place that will probably be packed with people. As I said, it's a vibe! We read other reviews beforehand and were expecting the awkward entry and party atmosphere. Odds are an employee will spot you and approach, but if not, head to the bar and tell them you're checking in. One of the bartenders let us into the elevator and guided us to the "call room," AKA reception.||Someone is in reception 24/7 at Pensão Amor, which was great for us, since we had to leave early the next morning for our flight. The guy in reception gave us a fun brief backstory on the girl our room was inspired by and ran through any information we might need, like how flashing your room key allows you to bypass the line into the bar at night.||The room was great (#34), with an amazing view down onto Pink Street. Despite the raging party scene below, the two layers of windows really sealed out most of the sound! The hotel even provided ear plugs, just in case. However, it did pour rain that night, and we discovered around the time we woke up that water was leaking in from around a window. We reported the leak to reception when we checked out at 7am. The receptionist let us into the bar, since everything is locked up after the bar closes, and since it was raining they let us wait there until our Uber arrived. At that point the guy unlocked the doors, bid us a good day, and off we went. ||The whole process went as smoothly as we could have hoped for, and it was so much fun being able to step outside straight onto Pink Street, which has to be the most lively place in Lisbon at night. If you're up for excitement in every sense of the word and hoping to experience Pink Street, Pensão Amor is a...
Read moreSo I checked in to the Pensao Amor Madam's Lodge as I thought it would be an interesting stay, but I wouldn’t recommend staying there for a number of reasons:||The history as an old brothel is interesting and also the rooms are lovely and the bar area is comfortable and a nice place for a drink. But that’s where it ends|||(1) Firstly you access the hotel from Pink street and need to climb up 3 flights of stairs to the first floor, where the bar is, also there is a lift but you can’t access it until you’ve checked in and there is no one around let you use it.||(They say you can access walking up the other road above Pink Street to access the bar and then walk to the same lift but no one tells you this beforehand) ||(2)I then had to walk up another 2 flights of stairs to the 2nd floor and reception.||Try this when you have heavy luggage and more than one case if you’re a family it will be a nightmare !||Got there and it was locked - knocked the door, no answer, then banged it.||Finally someone came and in an angry manner said I was about to break the door! No apology etc - and also said there are other guests so banging loudly was disturbing then, so I said if you had kept it open or at least told people the process then that would help.|||(3)Eventually got checked in, lovely room but curtain broken so light coming in. Reported it twice but no one fixed it (photo attached)||(4)They also won’t service/clean your room unless you put the sign on the door requesting it. (normally other hotels service rooms unless the Do Not Disturb sign is there). Again, wasn't told the process.||(5)Now in the evening, bar and disco go on until 3am weekdays and 4am weekends. Well the noise and drone and thumping woke me up several times. I mentioned it to them and they said they would speak to the people but it was the same next evening - so much for the worry of disturbing the guest!|||(6)I felt a lack of service or care for the customer. The staff looked like they didn’t want to be there and didn't know how to deal with the needs of the guest.||Plenty other places to stay with better service and no noise with better value. ||So I wouldn’t...
