I cannot say enough great things about our experience here. Pedro and Susana are simply the best hosts you could ever imagine, so sweet and generous with their time and energy. I love them so much and I love their cats! The hostel itself is absolutely gorgeous and well-maintained, always clean and comfortable. My biggest thing when searching for rooms is private bathrooms and ours was just immaculate. Amazing location, amazing people, amazing service and rates. Breakfast is always delicious and the cleaning ladies are so nice. We feel so lucky to have picked such an amazing place to stay in Sao Miguel. Be aware that parking in this area takes a bit of finessing due to the parking zones and that the hostel has stairs. If you are okay with that and are comfortable with cats, you should not hesitate for even a second to stay here!!

He pasado 5 noches junto a mi madre en este hostal, y debo de decir que es un gran sitio si piensas pasar un tiempo en Ponta Delgada!! Susana y Pedro, los anfitriones, son muy amables, son muy familiares y acojedores, también, a la hora de algún problema, no dudan en acudir y ayudar al momento. Y también, si te gustan los gatos, los 2 que tienen son muy amigables también. En cuanto a las habitaciones, muy amplias y comodas, tienen aire acondicionado, eso sí, las habitaciones no cuentan con un escritorio, pero eso se soluciona sin problema al bajar a la sala común. (Osea, donde se toma el desayuno o donde está el salón) En cuanto al desayuno, que era excelente, con productos de la isla, y muy buenos, también las trabajadoras eran muy atentas y amables, como el servicio de limpieza, que eran encantadoras! Y también, es un lugar en puro centro de Ponta Delgada, muy bien ubicado y bonito, al lado de la mayoría de restaurantes o tiendas, y en caso de querer hacer turismo, tienes la oficina muy cerca, o si no, en todo caso, Susana puede recomendar sitios muy buenos y bonitos! Ha sido por tanto una estancia muy agradable y la recomiendo mucho si vas a pasar unos días en Ponta Delgada. Sin duda repetiremos cuando volvamos! :)

A top notch hostel better than most hotels, starting with the top notch rooms , beds are super comfortable. Breakfast is incredible, with local bread and dairy products, and a nice cup of tea, and other nice stuff. Service is great. The owners were very helpful and super friendly, they gave us good tips, for restaurants,trails, and trips around the island. Great location.

Matriz 55 has it all and it doesn’t get much better than this…

Only book this place if you’re looking for: The perfect location of an Airbnb (it doesn’t get any more central… unless you want to sleep in the church) The quality and attention to detail of a great hotel (nicest towels ever, room gets cleaned every day etc…) The vibe of a hostel, where you could easily meet people. But more than anything - The hospitality of a guest house, where the host will be truly dedicated to making yоu feel at home.

We loved staying here for many reasons: the spacious, modern rooms, the delicious locally sourced breakfast, the central location, but most of all the warm and helpful hosts! Susana and Pedro shared many insider tips with us that helped us explore the island in our limited time. They have deep knowledge that you can really only get from a local. They are also very kind and easy to talk to. They foster a really nice vibe in the hotel where it's easy to meet and hang out with other guests, which we wish we had more time to do!...
