I was lucky to stay at Maria da Sé around September. Maria da Sé is simply a gem if what you care is about, service, location and feeling welcome. Marta! ohh Marta! if the hotel is a gem Marta is a Diamond, really! Marta makes you feel at home and welcome even before you arrive making sure you are all set, she took the time to help us plan our activities around Porto, made great recommendations and even shared some local and family recipes! I stayed in the attic on the 4th floor which had a great view. The apartment was clean and the kind employee cleaned it daily. Good bed and pillows, fridge and a balcony. It is centrally located, between Sao Bento station and Ribeira district, close to shops and bus stop and Rua des Flores, the main shopping street. |Now the negatives.. The view is excellent but during the night it was dark and lonely and felt unsafe. Also, the stairs are really narrow, very difficult especially with luggage. Finally, the bathroom has no heating. I was there in March and the AC in the main room could heat the bathroom for a while but it eas not very comfortable to be naked and wet in there. I imagine during winter it...
