Bartolomeu Bistro & Wine — Restaurant in Porto

Unfortunately, we were not able to taste anything as with all empty tables outside and few inside the waiter informed us that the restaurant was full… very unprofessional and unfriendly place which chooses who is allowed to enter based on appearance 👎🏼

RE to restaurant's response: Sorry but it was not the explanation we received... At first we wanted to sit outside and asked if the tables were available. The waiter said that yes and additionally asked if we preferred to sit outside or inside. With that question we changed our mind and followed the waiter to sit inside. He asked us to wait in the entrance to the main room and went to consult that with, I guess, the manager or another waiter. After their short conversation, he came back and informed that there was no availability even for the tables outside which initially seemed to be free. All the tables outside were empty with no indication about them...

A fantastic restaurant and dining experience. This was our final meal to cap off our trip in Porto and we couldn’t have asked for a better evening to wrap it all up. The restaurant is a beautiful setting, quite intimate with a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The service was 5 star, Ana our waitress was particularly attentive, super friendly and just amazingly helpful with her recommendations and explanations of the dishes. The sommelier was also very knowledgable and helped us pick some great glasses of wine. It felt very luxurious and they even give you a complementary glass of fizz on arrival which was a lovely touch. The food was fantastic, great medium size dishes so you can share the food and experience more of the menu. Wish I could say this was the best restaurant I’ve been to in Portugal, but in fact I can say it’s the best restaurant I’ve ever been to, in general! I admin that I had no expectations coming in as I did not have the time to research it, but WOW, what a wonderful surprise! The interior design, the perfectly matching music was an add on to the magical complexity of the food, the experience and the great, great staff! For 2 people we chose 5 dishes, which are similar to tapas and it might’ve been a tad much, but - nooo regrets! We got complementary entry drinks, every dish was thoroughly explained and extraordinary, the wine recommendations were on point and we didn’t even know we needed the dessert as much as we did!
