Bed bug infestation!
I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the NorteSoul Hotel in Porto, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we arrived, it became evident that this hotel was far from satisfactory.
The most significant issue we encountered was the presence of bed bugs in one of the beds. It was horrifying to wake up covered in itchy bites and discover the infestation. Not only did this ruin our stay, but it also resulted in additional expenses for us. We had to pay to have all our clothes cleaned thoroughly to prevent any further infestation, and we had no choice but to purchase new luggage due to the fear of carrying bed bugs back home.
To make matters worse, the hotel owner's attitude was appalling. When we reported the bed bug situation, instead of showing concern and offering immediate assistance, the owner was rude and dismissive. It was shocking how they handled the situation, displaying a complete lack of professionalism and empathy towards their guests.
What aggravated us further was the owner's admission that they were already aware of the bed bug issue. It was utterly irresponsible and negligent of the hotel management not to address this known problem promptly. This negligence put the health and comfort of their guests at risk, and it is completely unacceptable.
Despite the significant inconvenience caused by the bed bugs and the owner's rude behavior, the hotel refused to compensate us for the additional charges we incurred as a result. This lack of accountability and refusal to take responsibility for their own failures only added insult to injury.
Overall, I strongly advise against staying at NorteSoul Hotel in Porto. The presence of bed bugs, the unprofessional behavior of the owner, and their failure to address a known issue demonstrate a complete disregard for their guests' well-being. Save yourself the trouble and find a different accommodation that prioritizes customer satisfaction and basic...
Read moreThis is such a convenient location. It took us 5 min walk from the central Sao Bento station to the hotel. We took an early morning living tour to Duoro Valley. The tour required us to get up early. Because the gathering spot is right outside of the Sao Bento station, the location of this hotel allowed us to sleep a it more before our tour. We walked each day and barely had to take the metro because most attractions are located near this spot. Lots of good restaurants near by as well!
Our room was a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment with high ceilings and a full kitchen, located on the 3rd floor. There was no elevators but carrying the luggage up didn't bother us.
The hotel exceeded my expectations with its spaciousness and natural light. Our 2 kids took the sofa bed in the living room. Behind the large wooden doors in the living room, there is a charming little balcony overlooking the inner courtyard.
The water pressure was good. The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast has many items. They came in nice gift bags with individually wrapped bread, muffins, fruits, fruit cups, milk, juice and etc., definitely more than enough food for everyone.
It was a great stay and we wish to come back again...
Read moreThis is a great place to stay, in the perfect location for easy access to Porto's main attractions. The rooms are nicely furnished and of a good size and have all the facilities needed. The breakfast packs and the tea and coffee-making facilities were a nice touch, as was the welcome bottle of local wine. The service we received from Eduardo, the building manager, was also very good, with him being attentive and proactive in helping us throughout our stay.
The 4 stars instead of 5 was down to the lack of adequate soundproofing in our room. We were on the first floor and so could hear every noise from the hallway and sometimes from the rooms above us which sadly...
