Let’s talk about the advantages first:1. The hotel has a long history, the decoration is luxurious and elegant, and there are many authentic Ming Dynasty paintings decorated everywhere, which has a strong heritage. While the public areas retain the style of more than a hundred years ago, the interiors of the rooms are newly renovated, complementing each other.2. The location is very advantageous. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the Red Square. We bought a lot of food at GUM department store and it was okay to walk back to the hotel with our bags.3. The breakfast is very rich and exquisite. The hall is at least 10 meters high and the roof is inlaid with translucent glass, making it radiant. There are harp performances and fountains at the dining venue, which are particularly tonal.4. The room is luxuriously decorated and has complete facilities. Because it was newly renovated just a few years ago, it has obvious advantages compared to many hotels in Moscow.5. The restaurant on the first floor of the hotel is connected to the side entrance. The Russian food is very delicious, especially the pre-dinner buns. They are so delicious. I asked to buy 10 of them to take away. I asked the waiter for help, but he said he didn’t order it that way. , in the end at 100 rubles each, the price is not cheap, but worth the money. Also, the crab salad and rib eye steak were delicious.Disadvantages and shortcomings:1. There is no so-called Chinese courtesy, there is no Chinese service at all, and the English accent is very heavy and it is basically difficult to understand. This is very important. There were many choices at the beginning. They came here just for the Chinese service, but there were no2. The hotel's service awareness is average. When you check in, you drag two large boxes, and the doorman looks at you indifferently. Later, I found out that he is responsible for pressing the remote control and opening the door. This is the only job, and the other tasks are similar. He has nothing to do with3. The front desk clerk of the hotel is as cold as ever. I can’t say that the service is not good, but she is definitely very cold, just like the doorman.4. The executive room was marked, and it was expensive. There was no bathtub, and the room was not big. Later, I contacted Ctrip to pay extra to upgrade the room. Anyway, I didn’t want to book the executive room. It was very worthless.Overall, it is still a good hotel. If you want to experience a strong sense of history and feel the luxurious life scenes of Russian aristocrats in the 19th century, you are right to come here. No matter how expensive the Four Seasons Hotel is, it cannot give you this feeling. But if you want to experience a distinguished feeling and warm service, then this is not the place. If you want to pursue cost-effectiveness and don’t have too high requirements for hotels, Marriott and Hilton are both good. They are a bit older and the service is not good, but the price has a...

As a Top Contributor on TripAdvisor I have been visiting a lot of luxury hotels around the world, but this is definitely one I will remember! This historical and perfectly located hotel in centre of Moscow is top notch and beautifully decorated. Take a look at my attached photos and you will see! Together with the outstanding personal service from the staff it makes it to one of the best hotel experiences ever!
My room (no 5539) was very spacious, quiet and nicely decorated and had everything I needed. The bed was Queen size and very comfortable and the room was spotlessly cleaned every day. I was studying every detail in the room and couldn’t find anything to complain about during the stay (3 days). Wi-Fi in all parts of the hotel was quick and easy to connect.
The breakfast buffet which is served in the breath-taking ballroom with glass ceiling and a harp player is spectacular by any international standards! Eggs and various omelettes are cooked to order in front of you and it’s also possible to have a glass of champagne for breakfast! The wait staff were always checking and taking care of our needs.
In summary, Metropol hotel is a very well-run hotel offering a very high standard of quality and personal service. I loved every moment of my stay and would stay here again if I return to Moscow!
A huge congratulation to the whole team at Metropol hotel – you have one of the best service levels in any hotel I have visited around the world!
I hope by writing reviews on every hotel I am visiting that some other hotels around the world will reach the same level of service as Metropol Hotel.

My husband and toddler and I stayed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights in March 2017, and they provided a full size wooden crib on wheels with sheets, duvet, and pillow. They also delivered colorful madeline cookies with dipping sauces just 10 minutes after checking in to say "welcome" to us and our baby.
We booked a superior king room and were very impressed with the decor and view (#2226 on the second floor, looking at Revolution Square and the Kremlin). The ceilings were at least 15 feet high, the king size bed was really a king (76 in. wide x 80 in. long or 193 cm x 203 cm) and comfortable too, and there was more than enough space for our 2 large suitcases and 2 backpacks.
The windows open with a key, which I called the front desk for and a bellman brought it literally within 90 seconds. I like to sleep at 65-70° (18-21°) so we kept the windows open during the day and closed them just before bed. There are two sets of double paned windows so when they are closed, the room is very quiet (by my light-sleeping standards.)
The receptionists, bellmen, doormen, waitresses, and hosts were all polite and very helpful, spoke English, and made sure that we were comfortable and enjoying our visit. I researched about 5 other hotels in the area and am confident that this is the best one. I'm already looking forward to...
