We had a great stay here during our visit to Ljubljana. Marjan and Florijan are super helpful and kind, and the central location means it's an easy walk to the old city, train station, Tivoli park, and other attractions. The room was pretty basic (which is what we expected) but super clean and comfortable. We had a large room with a well equipped kitchenette, and also appreciated the tea room common area with the espresso machine.||The hotel is on the second floor of a historic building; the bottom level houses a Bosnian restaurant. Entrance is through a sort of "secret passage" door, to which guests are given a key, and up the stairs to a second level. (There's no elevator here, BTW.) ||There are lots of restaurants and bars in the area which means it gets a little noisy in the evening, but things seemed to start quieting down around 10 pm or so. No breakfast is offered but we took advantage of the nearby Mercator market to get inexpensive fruit, yogurt, baked goods, and other staples.||We'd definitely...
Read moreArriving at Pod Lipo is pretty exciting as it is situated in its own square and there is an excellent restaurant on the ground floor, which is welcoming any time but especially so if you arrive too early for check in. The restaurant staff are really friendly, the food and drink are great and reasonably priced and English is spoken.|The same goes for the helpful Penzion staff. |The reception and rooms are one flight up, stairs only, in this great old building. My room was clean, there was lots of hot water, the wifi was good, I had an air conditioner, the terrace was a lovely feature. The area is very safe. There is chatter from the restaurant but everything quiets down at a reasonable hour. |Next to reception is a lounge where you can enjoy tea and coffee and board games. |Note that if you don't book your room and pay online, they only accept cash at the Penzion. The restaurant does take...
Read moreNice hotel that is more like a hostel, 5-7 minutes walk from the center of town (Triple Bridge) and 5 minutes from the river. They have several WiFi channels and it takes some trial to find one that works reliably. There is a kitchen if you want to eat in or you can walk 3 minutes to a hotel that has a very nice buffet for 7 euros. The restaurant/pub "Walter" located in the same building has good Slovenian food and beer at fair prices. ||Note that walls are thin and if you are adjacent to the kitchen, as we were, you will hear lots of conversation during the day. ||Very...
