PIZZA WORTH CROSSING BORDERS FOR!!
Okay, so after hearing about this pizza from friends who literally drove two and a half hours across countries just to try it, we had no choice but to follow in their well-fed footsteps. And let me tell you… it did. not. disappoint. Let’s start with the dough – ohhh, the dough. We’re talking poolish method (yes, that’s P-O-O-L-I-S-H, not a typo, not a nationality). For the uninitiated: that means a tiny whisper of yeast, a lot of love, slow fermentation, perfect temperature control, and proofing so patient it deserves a medal. These folks really care about their rise — they even use bulk fermentation pans like dough whisperers. 😮💨The result? A crust that’s chewy, airy, with just the right amount of char. Basically, if clouds had structure, they’d taste like this. And the ingredients? All straight from Italy — like they just raided a gourmet pantry in Naples and flew it in overnight. The dough has that special semolina-gluten-protein mix that gives it both structure and soul. The sauce is singing tomatoes, the cheese is like velvet, and the olive oil? Liquid gold. We tried: • A paper-thin zucchini & eggplant masterpiece — fresh, earthy, and crispy around the edges. • A pesto pie with vegan pepperoni and a kiss of chili honey (YES PLEASE!) • And the queen herself: Margherita, but make her special, crowned with creamy stracciatella and buffalo burrata so decadent it might bring a tear to your eye. Oh — and don’t even get me started on the drink I had: this herbal cola cocktail they serve in Slovenia. WHY is this not exported globally?! It’s like the cool cousin of Coke who went backpacking in the Alps and came back wiser and tastier. And called itself Cockta. Even my Swiss husband went for seconds on this drink. But more than the pizza (yes, more than the pizza — I said what I said), was the company. The kind of friends you met on tour years ago, who you see once every five trips around the sun but still pick up like not a day has passed. The kind of laughter that fills your lungs and your heart. The kind of conversation that turns a slice into a memory. So here’s the final verdict: Try Top Pizza. Cross a border if you have to. But most importantly — do it with people who...
Read moreNice pizzas but should honestly stick to takeaways. I mean the service was friendly but unprofessional, the waitress barely gave us time to look at the menu for example. The restaurant did not have regular glasses or even cutlery ( I understand that normally you eat a pizza with your hands but some people including my parents prefer it with a knife and fork).
The pizzas were a hit or miss, I liked my own a lot (margarita special), especially the crunchy crust is delicious (the Pizza is New Haven style). My father really did not like the quattro formaggi, he found the taste funny, i am not sure but it seems like one of the 4 cheeses is the vegan cheese they also use for the 100% vegan pizzas. It's important to note this restaurant only does vegetarian and vegan pizzas.
My mother had the Marinara which she liked, but it was again topped with the vegan cheese (I think they put this on every single pizza), which was stated on the menu, but honestly shouldn't be there, as the entire point of a marinara is that there is no cheese on it. Overall I don't understand why they would put this on any of the vegetarian pizzas, imo it really doesnt enhance the taste, its just a good alternative if you dont eat cheese.
The location of this restaurant is quite bad, it's better to sit inside because the terrace is surrounded by two bars which both have sketchy drunks sitting on their respective terraces.
I don't think this place deserves a 5.0 rating, as with many vegetarian/vegan places I sadly feel it is getting better reviews than it deserves because its trendy. If it was only takeout I'd definitely rate it...
Read moreThe best pizza in Ljubljana. That is a bold statement. But as a pizza addict i must admit that these pizza's even beat my best selfmade pizza.
Tucked away in a hidden corner on the outside of the center you'll find the best place to satisfy your pizza senses. If you are tired of the tourist places in the center, take a short walk to the tall NLB Bank buildings and pass under directly to Top Pizza. It is worth every step and you dont have to worry about waiting lines or even waiting for your pizza. We waited not even 10 mins for our 5 pizza's.
This new pizza place is owned by a honest, hard working family and im happy to support their efforts. And i think you should consider dropping by!
And YES. They take care of you vegans with there delicious vegan options. They really take care not to mix the vegan and vegetarian ingredients.
If you want to try out a different, non tomato sauce style, pizza then i recommend the funghi style with a decilious white sauce with mushrooms. Or go for the classic margherita.
