This is the third time I am trying to post a glowing review of this restaurant. They keep taking it down. But they don’t tell you why. They just tell you that you may have violated their standards. As if they have standards other than making money. I think now they objected to my using the F word. But they don’t tell you. They just give you a screenshot of all the things that it could be. That way they can waste your time and none of their time.
This is a wonderful Restaurant. I also posted a glowing review of a Yamaha motorcycle dealership in Aubenas France, and they refused to post that, claiming that I was a shill, and I’ve never been there, and then I was just attempting to create engagement for the vendor.
All they had to do is see all the other reviews I do in Aubenas, and all over France and Italy and Germany and all over Europe, and Morocco. But that would take human beings. Why higher human beings if you can just program a computer and not have to pay the computer every week.
They don’t tell you exactly what they are objecting to.
The next time they do this, I’m gonna call my lawyer, and they’re going to wind up spending tens of thousands of dollars in discovery. That doesn’t mean anything to billionaires. But it won’t be good publicity and that’s something that I am good at.
This is a very good Restaurant. I have no idea why iOS just capitalized the word restaurant. Neither does Apple.
I ate at this restaurant twice. My dear friends and neighbors recommended it. New paragraph Google, you owe the people to tell them what they did wrong. In your opinion.
They did it again. They tell you that editing the review will cancel the appeal. So I edited the review by proving that their automated reviewing program is f’d up and complaining that they should hire some people with human brains. But then again, that would eat into their billions of dollars of profits.
So they flagged it again. Read this review and tell me if you find any misinformation in it. Tell me if you find that I am a false reviewer just ginning up some business for a company that I’ve never visited. When I’m in France, I live in Aubenas for God sake.
It is now two years later. My review is below this note. I think it was up for two years. Then, apparently Google unleashed an AI reviewer, decided this review was off topic, or profane, or contained hate speech. Try calling Google or emailing them. You can’t. That would require they hire editors and support people and would result in their owners being millionaires instead of billionaires. You can see their notice in my pictures.
Below is the review I posted two years ago. I have not changed it. See if you can find the things they objected to.
Go. I had a fabulous salad with goat cheese. I’m a good cook but I doubt that I could re-create this. It was complex in taste and texture. I then had chicken veal croquettes which were really wonderful. I think it’s veal and chicken macerated into a thick light creamy filling surrounded by a beautifully fried crust and served with a dollop on the side of some sort of white subtle creamy stuff that had the texture of a mayonnaise but much more subtle. The croquettes had just a hint of hot sauce. Again, they were delicious and I would have no clue how to duplicate them. I then had the bull’s tail stew with risotto and chanterelle mushrooms and a chocolate sauce. By that time I was full and I couldn’t begin to finish it. I’m not much for chocolate so I didn’t really like it that much but it was tender as could be and I imagine that without the chocolate I would’ve liked it more. But again I was already filled to the gills. It’s really a great little restaurant. I was told about this restaurant my neighbor is back in the United States who even remember exactly what they had ordered – which I ordered. I’ll go back there before I leave and have just the salad and the croquettes. I am at an age in which I can no longer eat as much as I used to and the tapas menu...
Read moreWe arrived without reservation, but if they have space at the bar, the friendly staff will accomodate you. Make no mistake, this place, like most of the historical center of Cadiz, is small. I would highly recommend to call 1 or 2 days ahead to try to make a reservation. That being said, this turned from a lucky find to a next level experience.
First things first: the food. The kimchi rolls were a pleasant appetizer, with a spicy-sweet sauce and a refreshing tangy center. You also get a small platter of pickled olives. These olives rival the ones we found in Casariche. They truly burst in your mouth with what I could identify this time as the same spices you'd use to prepare Chorizo. They were remarkable.
Their grilled octopus is the first I have tried that rivals in flavor and texture to the Galician Polbo from Vigo. Their use of aioli and ink, plus the chunky mashed potatoes deliver a combination of flavors that will make you stop and taste each small variation in the plate.
The Codillo was refreshing, with a hint of tartness that balanced the often overenphasized sweetness of Andalusian pork. The Codillo comes with truffled potatoes. Take a moment to consider, that the pork might be overwhelmed by this combo if not done correctly, but La Candela manages to make them complement each other.
The Ceviche made me reminisce of modern Peruvian fusion, with a nice kick to it that will make you pay attention. It comes with some shrimp toasts to dip. However, you can also enjoy it with the house bread.
You might notice that we ordered quite a bit, that would be because this is a Tapas place. Logically, portions are smaller. However, portions are surprisingly hearty. So be careful when ordering, you might find yourself satiated before you thought you would be.
A final, but very important note. The staff was great! Friendly, and very relaxed. While we were there they were fielding people in at least 3 languages, never wavering in their kindness.
Overall, a great little find that deserves the extra work of planning ahead to make the reservation. We will be returning,...
Read moreWe came just as it opened and were very fortunate to get a seat a the bar to eat…. The restaurant isn’t big so best to book so you don’t miss out… they did have some tables outside in the square around the corner… the poor waitress had to keep trekking there with plates of food and drink but seemed happy enough to do so. She was one of only 3 front of house & there are 3 in the kitchen. But it’s ran better than most restaurants with 3 times the staff. Service is friend & efficient.the atmosphere is lovely because everyone is astonished by the food. We had a bottle of the “green wine” which we were allowed to taste before purchasing the whole thing (great idea by owner & the wine was delicious) Now for the food… simply EXCELLENT. The tuna tartare with pot salad was mind blowing… so well balanced. The croquettes of the day were prawn but if I’m honest I couldn’t taste any but what we did get was almost a Bombay potato flavour with the lightest and delicate centre. Best croquettes I’ve ever had. We also had the octopus which for my tastes was a bit too salty but was extremely tender & the also had the squid ink rice with cod…. Squid ink is salty but when it was eaten with a petal of the artichoke & cod it was perfectly balanced. Such a great evening and so reasonably priced for such...
