This is a small building converted into half a dozen flats very recently. The entrance hall reminds one of a medical centre, light, airy and stunningly clean. Our first floor flat was spacious and could accommodate 4 if one used the sofa bed. The kitchen was well equipped, though we ate out except for breakfast. ||||The location is ideal – about a ten minute walk to the cathedral, 2 minutes from the market and a supermarket and around 20 minutes on foot to the station. Although we took a taxi on arrival, we walked to the station for our day trip to Jerez (I recommend this day out) and on departure. We are over 65 and my wife is close to having a knee replacement, so the station really is an easy walk, though would be slippery under foot in wet weather. Why to the Spanish and Portuguese authorities use marble for pavements?||||In the other direction, a 15 minute stroll gets you to the castle and public beach, where you can swim. ||||Our welcome and introduction to the area was given by Virginia who was helpful.||The one downside was noise at night. Although it was not high season, people walking home late and the odd dog on a balcony or in the street did disrupt sleep a bit. This is due to the narrow streets (the taxi drive was quite an experience) meaning that the noise bounces off the walls. ||||Cadiz is worth combining with Seville for a short break and I would recommend this as a smart, clean and comfortable...
Read moreOur family of 3 spent a lovely week at La Posada. The location just by the central market was perfect. We really enjoyed our lazy mornings, buying churros from just outside the apartment and then enjoying them with coffee at one of the many nearby cafes. We also spent hours in the market, buying the super fresh fruit and marvelling at the amazing fish/shellfish displays. Staying so centrally was perfect too for going to the town beach (La Caleta) and eating at local restaurants in the evenings.||||Our apartment was sparkling clean, very comfortable and well equipped. Very airy and light and importantly, very quiet even though it was so central.||||We got a very warm welcome on arrival and were given invaluable advice on good restaurants, what to see etc. That really set us up for our stay and really helped us enjoy Cadiz.||||Highly...
Read moreI stayed at La Posada del Mercado, with 4 friends for our annual reunion. We had an amazing time in the apartment. It was great to have some coffee and tea on arrival. We enjoyed the terrace/patio and it had many appliances such as : tv, microwave, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, cutlery and crockery. The beds (they even offer you three kinds of pillows for you to choose) were very comfortable, and all the rooms had air con which is very useful when it is hot. It is very close to the beach and to a market. ||Virginia, the host, was extremely nice, explained us everything about the city and recommended us really good places to enjoy authentic Spanish gastronomy. I would 100% recommend it and I will definitely be back in Carnival to stay...
