Photos for this guesthouse are very misleading - the suites all cost the same but are very different styled rooms of totally different levels of comfort and you don’t get to choose. For our honeymoon, we were put in a room with two twin beds pushed together (we know this is often a practice abroad but the other suites at the guesthouse - which we booked - had full sized beds!) a mosquito net filled with holes, dark painted walls with no natural light, cobwebs in the bathroom & no soap (none in the hotel actually, we had to go buy our own to wash our hands). The room was extremely dark at all times and definitely couldn’t be labeled a “suite” as it was just a room. After a totally sleepless night on the very uncomfortable twin beds the staff kindly offered us another room for the night. Upon entering yet another room void of any light they told us “but it’s by the road so it will be loud”. We asked the previous guests who were checking out how they slept and they raised their eyebrows with a “um...it’s firm!” At this point we decided to cut our losses and move to another hotel (a decision we are SO thankful for!)

Outside of the room, what you can’t tell about the photos is that the pool is literally inches from the check in desk and the road, so don’t expect any calm or serenity relaxing by the pool.

Unfortunately, Seven Senses doesn’t allow cancelation/refunds and quite frankly is fairly expensive in relation to what’s available in Chiang Mai. We lost about $400 for the next six nights we forfeited. That being said, we are now in a luxurious, clean, bright penthouse room at Gategaa Village (it’s so lovely!) for just a few extra dollars per night and absolutely...

Actually it was a home converted to a hotel. We are asked to remove our footwear at the entrance and walk to the rooms and everywhere. The room which we got was not at all OK.. The lighting is too dim and the floors are creaking if we walk it makes huge noise as if the wood will break anytime.. There are flying cockroaches and you will see lot of lizards on the wall in the hall and kitchen area.

And get ready to be bitten by mosquitoes a lot. As in pictures it's not like that... The pool is just at the reception a small one.. Which is not at all great and sheets are not much clean.. The tv channels are so bad.. In local language nothing to watch when you get bored.. The main drawback is the lighting.. It's so dim we have to double check. The annoying part is when walking the floor creaking noise it makes.

At reception Mr Rj he's very helpful to guide you where to visit and how to go etc. He's was a very nice person.

But if you really like to stay in a local life you might like it. But for me no I couldn't bear the mosquitoes and the cockroaches flying around and especially lizards.

The place is walkable to many other food joints places..

Stayed in month...

Mixed feelings;

  1. location really good, close to ChiangMai old town square (15min walk) and Maya shopping center (20); easili accespible by car; unfortunatelly street is quite busy; all surroindings are full of rabish (why Thai people do not clean it)!
  2. quality of the rooms is rather typically Thai - often looks nicer then in fact is; really do not understand why in guesthouse someone equips room with tube with hydromassage; noone uses, it is not practical and looks dirty inside;
  3. we experiencee 2 rooms - Ayuthaya and ChiangMai; first - really horrible; no real window, bathrooms with no roof; second one - nicer, more specious, what we've seen the nicest in gh
  4. rooms are cleaned everyday, but never fully cleaned;
  5. excellent!! Beakfasts and not only; many dishes from manu is more than recommended! Papaya salad, best in Chiang Mai!
  6. overall service - really good, always welcomes you with juice/ drink;)...

I stayed a few nights at Seven Senses and loved my time there. It is quaint and peaceful, a traditional Thai bed and breakfast. The rooms are spacious and so comfortable, with thoughtful elegant touches in the design (hello, waterfall shower and personal terrace). The salt water pool is a delight, and for those reviewers who criticized the pool’s position in the house, I’m not sure who they fear might intrude on their peace: there are only every three staff on sight who are lovely and keep to themselves, and we saw one other guest coming and going. Try the traditional Thai breakfast options! And the yogurt. The walk to old town is maybe 15 minutes, but I suggest you walk around the neighborhood local to Seven Senses because it’s full of delicious food and treats, and plenty to take in.

Our room was big and the idea is nice but it wasnt the cleanest especially the bed sheets and the floor. There was also a dead roach in the lanai area that adjoined our room. Thank god it was dead. The bathroom was also big but the water gets everywhere when you shower and it pools on the wood floors that you feel have already softened a bit over time. The AC was very nice and cold. The location is good. A nice quiet place that is walkable to temples, food places and night markets. But it's not the closest. At least a 500m walk usually. The breakfast was okay. Coffee was good. Overall great value for money. Would rate higher if it was cleaner and the bathroom better maintained.

Authentic rooms in different styles inspired by variety of Thailand's areas. We stayed in Mahnorah suite. We liked the style of the room and the bed. What might be bothering is the noise from the street (wooden windows) and noisy rooster near the hotel. The bathtub was in bad shape and could use some care. The breakfast is good, 3 options available (american breakfast/ yoghurt with fruits/french toast). You get complimentary water every day. The staff was helpfull and always smilling :)
